He grew up and worked most of his life around people that called asians "gooks" and picked on "homos", and thinks all "towelheads" should be shot. He thinks guys that "push pencils" arn't real men, and are "p" whipped, he's a really big guy who is very strong, (ex linebacker) well educated in a management position making good money, and approaches everything with a super-masculine point of view, swears like a sailor (used to be one) . He is generous, kind and loving, and goes out of his way to help out people, he just has this narrow-minded view about how men should be, and it drives me nuts because my point of view is, so what if a guy is gay/asian/pencilpusher/"insert label here"? As long as they are not shoving it down my throat, whining about it continously, or crowing about it every five seconds like they are more important than anyone else, or killing people over it, who cares? It's their problem to deal with, not mine. How do I get him to tone it down for my company party?

To make a long story short. My husband and I are realtors and are struggling in this slow market. My friend asked me to send her home listings in her area because her and her husband were considering buying a home. She really liked the ones I sent her and she asked me to keep an eye on her neighborhood for new listings as they come up.
This morning I checked my email and I recieved a blanket letter to all of her friends stating that she and her husband bought a home yesterday afternoon.
I feel betrayed. They knew we've been struggling with money this year, we even had to cancel some trips we had planned with them because we couldn't afford it. Also, I have reason to believe that they may have purchased a home that I sent them the info for. They said they went to an open house and just purchased through the listing agent that was there and that they never thought to call us.
Shouldn't they have told me first? How do I tell them how upset I am over this?

I'm assuming the dress should be just below the knee. Is this correct? If the dress is sleeveless, would a matching cardigan be appropriate? Would black attire still be appropriate in June? Also, should I wear black panty hose or nude color?

If so, did you get a response? I heard that his office sends a letter of congratulations. I sent an invitation, but haven't gotten a letter yet. Was it just a rumor?

ok every year we go to a local relatives house for christmas...but it seems like our family never knows when it is time to leave...when their kids were little some members of the family would stay til 1 or 2 in morning now its come to the point that members of the family just spend the night sleeping on couches or the floor? The hosting family never complains but you can tell it irritates them. For the most part these family members arent even willing to help like for example wash dishes...clean up after themselves...when is it time to leave?

I live on a college campus. I found an iPod in a computer lab. I kept it and put up a sign saying I found it. But, since ANYONE can just see the sign and call me and say, "Yeah, that iPod's mine," even if it's not theirs, I wrote on the sign:

E-mail [my address] with the following information:
- model of iPod
- 5 songs on the iPod (beginning with "A" for convenience)
- any engravings, covers, decorations

Do you think that's reasonable? Or is there a better test that I could use? How should I arrange for us to meet to return the iPod?

I'm a senior in high school, and 4 teachers wrote me recommendations.

Teacher #1: Wrote me 9 college recommendations and 1 National Merit Semifinalist recommendation.

Teacher #2: Wrote me 9 college recommendations.

Teacher #3: Wrote me 2 college recommendations, one was only on ONE DAY'S NOTICE!

Teacher #4: Wrote me 1 recommendation with plenty of notice.

My mom bought each of these teachers a $15 gift certificate to a gourmet food shop and restaurant. I do not think that this is enough. Should I go out and buy them some more gifts? I do not think my mother's gifts match their generosity.

I am a bartender in a neighbourhood pub. It frustrates me and my co-workers to no end when people bring in their badly-behaved children (the pub allows minors inside until 9pm). My blood boils when kids are screaming and running around the bar. When other patrons complain, I am forced to confront the parent(s), politely asking them to restrain their kids, however this usually results in either me or my co-worker who's table it is forfieting the tip from that table, as most parents these days simply won't abide by anyone critisizing them or their "little angels". And since when, when the place is jam-packed on a Friday night, the server is at his/her wit's end and overwhelmed by customers, is it okay to say to your child "tell the lady what you want, honey" when the child is not yet old enough to speak and be understood by anoyone other than their parent(s)? I guess my question is this: if parents can't control their kids in a restaraunt, why do they insist on bringing them there?

Please read the whole thing. I got rid of my facebook (myspace) a week ago without telling my friends at school, who were really excited and happy that I decided to get one. Now they seem po'ed at me. Should I have said something? I thought about it but I onestly thought it would be arrogant of me to think they cared that much. I don;t know though they seemed po'ed before this, I wonder if they thought I was arrogant because I added a lot of friends. I guess I could either apologize, put it back up, act like nothing happen, let it fade away. I honestly thought they would figure out that I got rid of it and they never asked me. I had expected them to ask and then I would tell them. The screwy thing is I'm trying to get to become better friends with these people and I don't know if this screws it up. I also have incredibly low self esteem and social anxiety disorder so I guess I could be misinterpreting anger, like I do a lot, but now they have reason to be pis sed. To be fair, it might look like i took them off my friends list. But I figured they all would have figured it out by now now that I'm on nobodys. And I got invited to be in an internet school group but got rid of it without replying first. I mean I'd consider putting it back up if it might possibly reverse everything (because then it would say we were all friends again) but I honestly want no part of it. I also don't know if i should try sitting with them at lunch like I have wanted to for a while, I don't know if then they'd know everything was ok or they'd just think I was an assh ole.

I think that now a days people do not stick to formalities concerning their clothes.
What i believe i should choose my outfit according to the occasion itself, the time and place and the people i shall meet. But it seems that not everyone does that.

Now what do you think and do when you pick up your outfit?

My husband left me about 6 weeks ago and I guess he failed to mention the situation to some of his family and friends. Christmas cards are starting to arrive to both of us and I don't know how to respond. I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. Should I just ignore them or send a note explaining what happened? I wasn't planning on sending out any cards this year. Thanks!

I know, all offensive. What I'm looking for is what makes one less worse than the others. My own feelings are that sucking one's thumb doesn't interfere with the space of others, so it's less offensive than farting. One can clean one's thumb, as opposed to one's boogers, so thumbsucking is the least offensive. But, I think that, typically, social mores are less rational and people feel as they do for reasons they may not be aware of. I want to explore that notion here.
