For all of you that have a shoes off house. Where do you take off your shoes? Why do you do it there? Do your guests have to remove their shoes?

I am going to a wedding reception tonight and on the invitation it says that it is semi casual dress. I am not sure what this means. Any ideas would really be appreciated.

I have a college professor who is so against men holding the door open for women. I really do not get what is wrong with it. She says they [men] are implying that you cannot do it for yourself. My thinking is well how do know what he is thinking? I can't read minds! Maybe he just does it for everyone. Maybe he has a crush on me and wants to make a good impression. My point is I do not know. Is it not hypocritical for said Professor to criticize a man for ASSUMING a woman cannot open a door, and then not criticize herself for ASSUMING that everyman opens doors for women because they are sexist? Why then, was SHE offended when a guy held the door open for me (I was carrying a bunch of books by the way) when I entered her class, and I said thank you? I just don’t get it!

Do you take advantage of your public library? How often do you visit your library? Is your library "not up to par" in your standards, so do you go to another city's library? Why do you go to the library? When do you go to the library? Does your library have DVD's to rent? Does your library have a website for requesting items? Thanks for answering.

This woman was standing inside the lobby of my building right by the entrance. I was holding my baby and trying to open the door with the key. But the woman just stood there watching me! I'm just trying to figure out why she didn't open the door until I said loudly "She can see I'm trying to get in but she won't even open the door".

After being incapacitated from a wrist injury its was thoughtful of Buzbe if it was him as I was told. I have my doubts on this as no proper message given. I feel upset rather than happy, I thank someone as per the norm, not had the chance to do this yet ! Feel like I'm being observed or the target for some silly prank, an expensive one at that .

I work in publishing/media. The new guy who started, well, he's new--so he is still learning the ropes. Yet there is one sour issue that has nothing to do with knowing our style guide: he smells like a moose. I was helping him with something the other day and caught a whiff that was so foul it made my eyes water. Is this appropriate to talk about with my boss? Or do I just have to breathe through my mouth at work from now on?

They all spoke to each other in their native tounge, and, as I don't understand Spanish, I could not understand a word they were saying. I felt so uncomfortable there and uneasy that I could not wait for an excuse to go home. I'm not one to say that if you're in America, you should only speak American. I'm bilingual myself (Italian-American). But I felt so left out of the celebration and can honestly say that this is the worst Thanksgiving I've ever had. I will never accept another invitation to this friend's house. Am I wrong to feel this way. How would you feel? Is there anything I could have done differently? Why did I feel so uncomfortable about the whole situation?

I've going through a really rough time dealing with my next-door neighbor at the moment. I don't worry about myself but, rather about my parents. You see, we as a family have dealt with horrible neighbors in the past, the most recent one left several years ago after banging on the adjoining house walls for over 2 years (I live in a terrace house), apart from a million other nasty things. My parents didn't dare to take any action until one day, this illegal-dealing neighbour threatened to beat my father up. Finally, my parents reported the incidents to the police only to find out that the police can't do anything except chat with the neighbors since its considered a "domestic dispute between neighbors" aka nothing serious (yeah, right!!!).

Anyways, now my other next-door neighbor is doing the same thing: knocking on walls and running the car accelerator just as my mom has dried out the clothes in the garden. If the law enforcement won't help my family out, what hope is there for us?

I used to waitress and some people were so in my face that I should not get a tip because I get a paycheck! I gave excellent service and was also fast ! (I had to wait on a 80 seat restaurant by myself) Do they think that because I was so busy I wouldnt notice them not leaving a tip or did they think that I made too much money because I was the only one working? Just wondering how many out there have that attitude as well?

We have been getting used or unwanted stuff from bro-in-law's wife as birthday or christmas gifts (eg. used perfume, perfume samples, ugly toddler dresses, dated and used magazines...etc etc etc) and I am really sick of taking it down. How do I say it to her face we do not need her "charity" without having to say it??

My boyfriend's brother and his girlfriend are getting married ( actually they got married in a courthouse already, but are having a ceremony at the parent's house). My question is, if I don't receive an invitation, should I go to the ceremony? I went with the bride for gown shopping and my boyfriend thinks its ridiculous that I not go, because everyone assumes I'm invited through informal conversations with the couple and my boyfriend's parents.

I haven’t seen a lot of my father-in-law and his wife, since he doesn’t seem to like his son very much. They got issues.Last year I took my husband over to Germany for 2 month (Dec/Jan) and he met his in-laws for the first time. When we got back we tried to get together with his dad to tell him about the trip and give him souvenirs we bought. After trying for 2 weeks I send the souvenirs and we haven’t heard from them since. Now I receive an email from his fathers wife asking what we want for xmas and what day we want to get together to exchange gifts. The dates given to me where the 2nd,9th and 16th of December.(The 16th is my own birthday)I was very angry and replied that since we haven’t heard from them since our return and they showed no interest in our live, that we are not interested to spend Xmas with them. At first my hubby agreed with me,but after his stepsister send him a mean e-mail how I made her mom sad and nobody likes me anyway he changed his mind and is now mad at me.

they have 6 cats , all declawed , who live outside. i am HIGHLY allergic to cats and they come to my house to spray and shed and hang out on and under my porch (wrap around). they go home to eat on their front porch (not inside).
one day over the summer i got SO fed up with these rodants that i walked up to the neighbors' door and banged on it for 20 minutes till she answered the door. i threw her cat inside and started screaming at the top of my lungs at her about her rodants being on my property and not staying IN her house because they have no claws. no self defense!
she FREAKED out and had to have someone stay with her for about 4 months nonstop 24 -7.
i used to get along with these people and i've told them for 2 years how allergic i am to cats and how i did not want them near me or my home or my property. i explained how they bother my asthma and bronchitis. they kept letting their cats out! the husband told me that they are a comfort to his wife with brain cancer.

We was all given the option to re apply for new jobs in the company as our admin jobs were been rolled into one so one unlucky person would get that. Turns out it's me. The Dirctor married the finance manager and she has got her 22 year old sister with no experience, who has been there for 18 months for a gap year, She got one of the jobs. A older woman who has been there for 6 months got the other. I have ended up with the admin job. I'm 31 and have been there for 4 years. They have stabbed me in the back. Any ideas how i can get them back? The truth is you don't have a friend at work. Not where money is involved. Also the admin manager is really shallow, and wants to keep me near her because i'm the only one who listens to her crappy conversation and can do the job better than most. She's so shallow that if I made an enemy of her she would make my life hell. Please help? I wish I could teach them that they can't play with peoples lives for their own selfish reasons.

begin eating? The plate is close to the grill, so should you bring it forward after your food is on the plate and push it back when the next item is about to be served or should you just eat from the plate when it is near the grill? Thanks.
