The basic rule for soups or cereals is to hold your spoon at about a 90 degree angle with your arm (i.e., if you are right-handed, then the tip of your spoon should point toward your left hand). You should tilt the spoon away from your body and scoop the soup or cereal into it as you lift the spoon and make it level again. When you bring the spoon to your mouth, tilt it toward you slightly and be sure not to slurp. If you want to drink the milk that remains after you eat the cereal, use the same method.

Just with a spoon, small bites. Technically, it's probably impolite to eat the milk at the end. But, unless you're in really snooty company, slurp away!
