I love my library! I voted for the levy in November and now it will be open longer (Sundays, too). Also, this means the library will have funds to buy more materials including all the fancy new gizmos.
This library does not RENT videos/dvds. One checks them out and returns them. No fees involved unless they are overdue.
The library's website is great. I can request materials and they will be ready at the drive-thru if I want. But, I would rather go in because I always find something else I want.
Do you know that in Ohio the more materials one checks out from the library, the better funding the library receives? So, regardless of where you live- go to your library. These are great resources- books, CDs, DVDs, videos, computers, classes (computers, dancing, crafts). The library is also a wonderful place to introduce books to children.
And, if your library is 'not up to par,' find out how you can help.
Join a Friends of the Library group and promote your library! Not just with book sales but with other functions as well.
Thanks for the great questions.

I live in a place that has a relatively well-developed county-wide library system. There is also a relatively good city library in a nearby city, and I work on a university campus with a library. I use all of these libraries, depending on my needs.
I especially like the fact that all these libraries have their catalogs online, because I can search for what I want. In the case of the county and city library I've already mentioned, I can also use the online catalog to request that the item be sent to a branch of the library more convenient to me. So the only times I actually visit the library are usually when I am physically picking up or returning an item that I have requested online. I can renew online, too, which helps me to avoid overdue fines.
A branch of the county library is only a few blocks from my home, so that one is especially convenient.
Yes, the libraries I use have all kinds of materials, including DVDs.
The three libraries that I use the most have different types of collections. I have taste for exotic materials, so it's nice that the libraries have different collections, because maybe only one of them has any one CD, book, or movie that I'm looking for. Sometimes none of them has the thing I want, in which case I have to look elsewhere (usually purchasing it online).

Si'. Of course I do. I helped build the library in this town with donations and hard work. It's a great library within a very small town. We can order anything we want on-line or at the library and have it in a relatively short time. We have DVD's to borrow, but not rent. We also have books on tape, VCR tapes, story hour, book signings, etc. Visit your library today!

I used to in city I used to live in. They rented movies, had a computer, and interlibrary loans.
I haven't been to the library in my new city, but I keep meaning to. The only problem is I tend to have a lot of overdue books, and my former library never charged me fees for being late.

Yes, as a comparative literature and English major, I find that I need to visit often. When not in school or at work, I'm there until it closes. The literature I'm usually comparing is Spanish and English. Entonces, te quiero decir que me encanta ir a la biblioteca. Leer, es algo que se hace mucho falta a los jóvenes de hoy.

I was a biblioteca. Now there are no good books there. So I go to book stores that sell and buy back second hand books.
