OR make your own cards at home.

I love giving presents as much or more than receiving them, especially when it's a surprise and you know that the person is going to love it.

Here is a solution a lot of bigger families do: Put everyones name in a hat and let everyone pull out a name and those two exchange presents.

Of course , this is for people other than your own spouse...YOU DO STILL HAVE TO (or should) Exchange presents with each other. And it doesn't include your own children. You have to have some presents under the tree,

PEOPLE TO PUT IN THE HAT WOULD INCLUDE :

sisters
brothers
nephews
nieces
aunts
uncles
cousins----If you go that far

Best friends or at the office ---- Separate hat drawing.

This should cut spending cost and save time. Now instead of 40 gifts you probably can get away with 15 or 20!

Hope this helps, just remember not to get too stressed out after all it is a rather nice time of the year when loved ones gather together and visit.

Season's Greetings to you and yours.

Wow. I was going to say that you now have a better idea of what you can get for presents and have comparision shopped so you know which store has the better price ... until I read that you only looked at cards. That would drive me nuts as well. I'm i9n favor of keeping it in the immediate families.

Just don't do it. Why spend money you don't have on presents you don't want to buy, to impress people you really don't like all that much? Keep it to the family. If you want to celebrate your friends, have a party...but no gifts required.
Send email cards instead of spending on cards that will get thrown out in 2 weeks. That way you save on the cards, the postage, and the trees that get cut down to make the paper!

I have 28 people for whom I need to figure out what the heck to get. I know, sounds humbug, but it's stressful. I feel your pain. I have suggested MANY times that our family do a secret Santa or draw names or something. None of the greedy people in hubby's family want to do that, though. Less presents. Sorry, that was REALLY humbug!

This is why I do most of my shopping online. I work for a living and have a 68-mile commute each way. I don't have the time to shop for all those people. PLUS, my daughter, hubby, and SIL have December birthdays.

Let me know if you figure this one out. Try doing some online shopping, though. Less crowds & you don't even have to get dressed. ;-)

I have my Christmas shopping done usually by August and everything wrapped by October.

I shop all year long and save big bucks !! Then we go out during the month of Dec. and laugh at all those out there frantically shopping. It is hilarious!

I'm with you. family only and everyonelse can just jump off a cliff. If you see them over christmas then wish them a happy christmas. All this shopping will eventully drive you insane. Will they come to see you drooling in a mental hospital?

I only buy for my two kids. I'm not with my husband anymore (WOOHOO!!!!) so I don't have to buy for him and it means I can do my xmas shopping on the net. No trawling round the shops anymore.
