I know, all offensive. What I'm looking for is what makes one less worse than the others. My own feelings are that sucking one's thumb doesn't interfere with the space of others, so it's less offensive than farting. One can clean one's thumb, as opposed to one's boogers, so thumbsucking is the least offensive. But, I think that, typically, social mores are less rational and people feel as they do for reasons they may not be aware of. I want to explore that notion here.

Not sure actually
thumb sucking as long as not accompanied by slurping noises
its not that offencive and just a bit odd for an adult
nose picking is gross hate when kids do that let alone adults
but then farting is a natural thing that has to happen
and if ya dont do it you can get bad stomach aches so that should be allowed for peoples health really
its OK as long as it dont linger too long
really though i think its up to the person as everyone should be allowed to do what they feel comfortable with if others dont like it then they can bugger off really is the answer!!

Farting b/c it a natural body noise. No one can help it when it happens and everyone does it. Unlike thumbsucking or eating boogers.

Thumb sucking is the least offensive, well actually I don't find it offensive at all, I would laugh. However, the other two would make me feel sick and I would have to tell the perpetrator to stop!

You asked which is least OFFENSIVE. That would be thumbsucking.

Which would generate the most laughter, would be farting.

Which would be most childish, would be thumbsucking.

Which would be most unclean, would be eating boogers.

Farting is most offensive especially if you announce "Ladies and Gentlemen, pray Silence for the fart" at which point you drop your trousers and bend double for maximum effect , sucking ones thumb is only offensive if you are engaged in cleaning cess pits at the time.

Wow, you get the "Most Bored of the Day" award I think. I prefer to sit near someone quietly sucking their thumb, thank you very much. Hi Gary!!! It's Jerry from High School LOL

i would go for the thumb sucking as it doesnt affect other people or look offensive. generally thumb sucking is a comfort thing which a lot of people do and most people know this.
why do you want to know anyway

I feel they are all offensive, but farting is a normal body function that cannot always be controlled. Therefore , I feel this one is the easiest for another person to forgive.

It all depends what country your in, for instance in Thailand it's no big deal if you poke your nose in public and China is the land of spitting, everybody and his uncle spits on the ground, on the floors, where ever you walk there's spit and the Chinese think nothing of it.
A teacher friend of mine was in China interviewing for a position at a university and while on a bus, he noticed a beautiful Chinese lady sitting next to him, he was just about to start a conversation when all of a sudden she went--huck puhy-- on the floor.

well one of the swab sites used for testing if you have mrsa or notis the nose, so if you pick your nose and you have mrsa your risking passing it onto loads f people just through the act of using door handles, shaking hands and all sorts of other daily activities of living so id have to say nose picking.

thumb suckings just plain childish in public and farting is only not nice in enclosed spaces
