What should I do when invited to a dinner party that I know will have alcohol? I can't drink any alcohol because of the medicine I am on, I really want to go to this party but I don't want people thinking I am being rude. Help! Graceful suggestions???

If you explain that you are on medication and can not have alcohol, they won't consider you rude. More likely they will be glad that you told them and they will respect your request . If they have good manners themselves, they won't pressure you to drink alcohol.

I would just politely refuse by saying you cannot have alcohol due to a medical condition. Or, if you don't feel comfortable with that, you can go as a designated driver and use that as your reason. You really shouldn't have a problem with not drinking alcohol at that kind of an occasion. I frequently refuse alcoholic beverages at those kind of parties and have almost never had anyone give me a hard time about it.

You can buy non alcoholic wine, tastes very nice and no hangover
Or you could say you were an alcoholic and daren't touch a drop as you are a bad drunk
no-one would think you were being rude if you said you were on tablets.

Just say politely, " I'm not drinking tonight"
You won't be the only one, I guarantee you.
It's no-one's business why you are not drinking, but if pressed, say you are on a course of treatment and that alcohol is contra-indicated.
Any host woth thier salt will have a variety of refreshments available; juices, non alcoholic wine or beer, or just plain water.
Enjoy yourself!

Take a bottle of wine or posh chocolates for the hostess, and take your own soft drink, and explain you are on medication, so it's most unfortunate you cannot drink alchohol.

A good host will always have a supply of soft drinks anyway, as people are driving, or just dont drink!

if someone thinks you are being rude because alcohol and medicine don't mix they would be too stupid for me to worry about in the first place.

Just politely let the host know you can't drink alcohol ... if they say that's all they'll be serving ... take your own soda or mineral water and ask for that to be served to you ... go and enjoy yourself :)

Take some non-alcoholic wine or beer, you don't even have to tell them.
Becks make a non-alcoholic version of their beer and it's really nice.I lived on it while I was pregnant.

Have a great night

Just tell them you can't drink because of your medication; I do it all the time. If they don't have any soft drinks or fruit juice drink water. No one will think you're rude, they'll know you're intelligent.
