you become one of those people who gets mad. He'll get so sick of arguing with you everytime he says something like that in public that he'll learn not to say it front of you, and at least that would cut back on it a bit. If he knows that your opinions are different and that you are offended as a minority, he should soften up if he cares about you. If he thinks tennis and soccer are for fags he has a twisted opinion. Those are some of the most athletically fit people. If he's ever seen professional soccer, he should know better. It's brutal. Make him play a little one on one with you. Just see how gay he thinks it is! Also confide in your mother. How can she put up with the N word? Why doesn't HE feel strange saying it around you, especially after he had a mixed kid? That's a tough situation, but as long as other people see you ignoring it in public, they'll believe that you think the same way. Stand up for yourself, and don't back down. He seems like some macho man, and he should respect you standing up for yourself. Everyman has to do it eventually. Now is your time.

I don't think he's really a racist...You did say that you're mixed. Something is going on within his self. Does he even like his self? He produced children with a black woman, a real strongly racist would not even create life with another race. He has some issues going on, and there's something in his life that he isn't satisfied with, or happy about. So you know the old adage, People with low self-esteem put others down, so they can be lifted up. And the fact that he says mean things in public is that he' s looking for a fight, someone to explode on.

My father is also a racist and doesn't like homosexuals either. It has alot to do with the generation they grew up in and how their parents raised them. All you can really do at this point is try not to become like him. I'm assuming you are a teenager.. If you are, just try to become the best adult you can possibly be. Break the cycle. You are NEVER going to change his mind. Trust me, your childhood is just a small portion of your life and it will be over before you know it. You will always love your dad, but there is a good reason that children grow up and fly the coop.

Your father has some deep rooted issues. I don't understand how he has some much hatred in his heart and your mom is black. Are your parents still together?
It seems that your father loves you because if he didn't he wouldn't be in your life. Let him know how that makes you feel when he says the "n" word and you dont want to be around him when if he keeps acting the way he does in public. Just remember, how your father acts is not a reflection of you.

Sorry this is happening, it must be embarassing and difficult to deal with. Ask him nicely to knock it off? You are in a difficult position because he could always go off against you if you are honest and open about telling him how bad he looks doing this stuff. So if I were in your shoes I'd just avoid going out in public with him. And if you have to go out, keep aware of what he's doing and if it looks like he's gonna spew this sheet just hang back or walk several paces away and act like u dont know him. Sorry this is happening. Wow. Maybe tell him you love him and because you love him you don't want him making a mistake...I don't know...difficult position. Good luck.

If I were in your shoes, I would go ahead and let someone call the cops on him! That sort of behavior is not accepetable!
Have you talked to him about how it makes you feel? If you think you could have a civil conversation, that might be a good place to start.

That is sad. My dad is kind of like that too, but not to the same extent. It helped my dad to put him in the position he puts those people in.
