I just discovered a small lump at the bottom of the hairline of my son's neck. It is not blue and you cannot see it even if you remove the hair away but you can feel it. What can it be. My Ped is not available until Wednesday and I am getting really bad thoughts. Could it be he fell on his head and caused such bump or what. It is not hurting him at all. Any idea anyone?

hello all, Hope everyone is doing well. I may have asked this already but do you think because I am still giving dd a bottle before bed that she won't drink it out of a cup during the day. We have eliminated all bottles except the nighttime one. She does not drink any milk all day besides that. We are on day 8 of no bottles and trying a sippy of milk everyday, at every meal and snack..no go. She takes a swig and throws it. I have tried chocolate milk, juice, etc... no...only water out of a sippy cup. She eats yogurt and cheese during the day but she went from 24 oz. of milk a day to 7. Will she ever take it out of a cup. I have friends who kept the night bottle and their dc were also drinking milk out of a sippy during the day, but needed the comfort from a bottle at night. Should I get rid of the night bottle and she will realize she only gets milk from a cup? advice...she is so stubborn. thanks Debbie

My baby cousin had to take pre-digested formula as a newborn, and now cannot tolerate fruits or vegetables. Only soy, apple juice and apple sauce. He will be 2 in early summer.

I have a seven year old boy. We have always been big on hugs, kisses, and "I love yous." Anytime he walks in the door, out the door, every night I tuck him in bed, and thru the day.
I have a 3 month old daughter who he has never seemed jealous of. But, now he won't get off of me! If I sit down, he has to be in my lap. If I'm doing the dishes, he holds on my leg. He messes with my hair, etc. He'll say "Mom, I don't want to let you go."
I feel guilty when I have to pry him from me, and even more guilty that it's getting on my nerves. But, it is nonstop clinging on to me.
He doesn't seem jealous of my daughter in any other way.
Is this jealousy or something else?
Any ideas on how to get him to let me walk down the hall without him attached, but not hurt his feelings?

My daughter is obsessed with putting oranges in her shirt for boobs - and wanting to wear bras. She even stuffed the tush of her pants with toilet paper to make her but look bigger. Is this stuff normal? Even when I hide bras - she tries to find them and hide them herself... Help. I just want to make sure this is normal behavior and not a sign of wanting to be much older already.

Hi. I need advice on how to deal with a 5 year old little girl who thinks it's ok to yell/scream at me and throw a terrible attitude at any point when she doesn't get her way. She's been like this for about 1 week and it's getting progressively worse. I've tried time outs, little dab of soap in the mouth, taking away cartoons/tv for the day and finally a spanking to which none seem to even phase her. any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

My child has always been a wonderful sleeper, but for the past 4 weeks or so, my child has only been sleeping 4-6 hrs a night. We took alway her naps, and she is still only sleeping 4-6 hrs. I have tried to sleep with her the past 2 nights, and I noticed she has involuntary movements while she is in the stage of "almost asleep" that will wake her back up. Then she will read or play with her hair, almost fall asleep, have the same movements, and repeat the process. Today she has been up since 3:15 and I could tell it's bothering her since she is tired and wants to sleep. We have an EEG scheduled in a few days. We have never been the type of parents to have our children sleep with us, so this has been the first time I have slept with her in her bed. Who knows how long she has been having these movements. Has anyone ever had these types of issues or has their children? She's only two and should be sleeping much longer.

My son is starting pre-k in the fall, and I'd like to know what I can do to prepare him. The plan is to do school shopping a little at a time as not to overwhelm him, and to visit his school and meet his teacher early and frequently. Maybe take him to the school and let him play on the playground if the school allows. Maybe late July we'll start "practicing" the schedule we'll have in the morning to get ready.

But as far as academics go, I'm sure he'll need to know how to write his name. But will he need to know ALL the letters of the alpabet and what they look like and what sounds they make? He can sing the alphabet song and pick out the letters in his name, but he doens't know the rest. He can count to 10, he knows his colors and shapes. Is there anything else? Will the school let me know what is expected of him before he starts, and will they let me know with enough advance so I can hurry and teach him what he doesn't yet know?

Thanks!

so my son tells me he wants to play guitar, hes only 3 yo. i asked him if he knew what a guitar was and he pointed to the poster i have of Brian Setzer. I then went out and bought him a childs toy guitar, and he got upset and said that it was not the real thing. So my question is my son to young to start learning to play guitar? i know it helps a child develop math skills by playing an instrument but is he to young to start playing?

After two weeks of green diarrhea, and a little bit of throwing up and fever...I took my 2 year old to the doctor last Friday. He said it was rotovirus and should be going away soon. He said no treatment other than keeping her hydrated. We haven't given her any milk, and have been giving her Gatorade like the doctor said. Now her bowel movements are light green/yellow and very very watery. When will this be over, what else can we do?

I feel like I am wrong telling her to stop.
I think she is just curious to figure out what the heck it is.
But it makes me uncomfortable.
She does it all the time.
What can I do?

My daughter will be 3 at the end of July ( 30 months) and she is NOT interested in potty training at all. She doesn't remove soiled diapers, doesn't ever ask about the potty or show curiosity, and cries when you put big girl undies on her or sit her on the toilet. She won't even come to the bathroom with me to see how it all works. The signs aren't there saying she's ready but she's almost 3 and needs to at least start the process in my opinion. My son potty trained himself (after months of failed attempts) when he was 3 but that was really too old and I don't want to delay it any longer. She doesn't go to daycare and only has my 6 yr old son to look to for an example but that hasn't helped much. Anyone have any good ideas to get her interested? I need all the help I can get!
