try buying pull ups and start potty training. also if you decide to keep diapers put them on backwards, it would be harder on him to take it off.

He is just like the rest of my children...loves to be naked. He might very well be ready to start training. It won't hurt just encouraging using the potty. You could start by setting him on the potty every time you go. At least it will give him an idea of what to do. Then continuously ask throughout the day "do you need to go potty?" At least it would be a start. Once you get a little farther...have him shoot at cheerios that you throw in the toilet. It turns into a game. Then rewarding an m&m each time they go, or something like that. Good Luck! I am thrilled to finally be out of the diapers...I have had a 9 year span of straight diapers with my kids...finally got my youngest out of them last summer.

The ability to take off his own diaper is not a reliable sign that your son is ready for potty training. It is most likely just something that he figured out how to do and is quite proud of himself for knowing how to do it. Plus, it probably gets quite a good reaction out of you when he does it! I have had good success with putting the diaper on backwards so the tabs face the other direction. This will give him something new to figure out and will keep him busy. He'll either lose interest in taking his diaper off or he'll figure out how to get it loose. If he takes a backwards diaper off, too, you can put a little piece of duct tape over the sticky tabs. Try putting him in overalls instead of regular pants. They are harder to take off. More reliable signs a child is ready for potty training are 1) showing an interest in what goes on in the bathroom when others are using the toilet, 2) has understandable words for urine, bowel movement, toilet, 3) wakes up dry from nap times, 4) begins to show signs of discomfort in a wet or poopy diaper by pulling at it, bringing you a diaper, or any other way that shows he is beginning to recognize when he has urinated or had a bowel movement. He is old enough to begin preliminary potty training. Don't push anything, but get him a small potty chair and keep it in the open in the bathroom. At bathtime, see if he wants to try sitting on it. Talk matter of factly during diaper changing time using sentences like, "Let's change your diaper. I think you made a poopy." After changing, take the diaper to the bathroom with him and show him how the poopy goes in the potty. "This is where poopy goes. Pretty soon you'll be able to wear big boy underwear and can put your poopy in the potty." Of course, your family will have its own set of words you use for these things. Keep talk about potty business matter of fact, upbeat, and encouraging. Potty training is a process and each child is ready to begin at different ages.

I'd start the potty training now.
For keeping the diaper on, this is going to sound wierd, but I know it works....use ducttape...of course only on the diaper, don't let it come in contact with the skin. But remember, if you do start potty training, it will take longer to get the diaper off.....in lieu of this, maybe you could start using pull ups and explaine how potty training works...if he knows he has an option rather than going in his pants, maybe he'll keep them on and use the potty.

Duct tape! LoL.....Just kidding.
I used to run around and take my diaper off. Maybe you should start teaching him how to use the toilet. He obviously doesn't like the diapers. Good luck.

For the person that thumbed everyone down who recommended potty training......my sons first babysitters daughter was trained at 1 years old. There is never an age too young. When a baby takes his.her diaper off it is usually an indication of the child being ready to potty train.

My daughter started doing this at 7-8 months old. It made her mad to have a diaper on. Id put it on she would take it off....... It wasn't wet, she just didn't want it on.... The one that said tape it on, just kidding.... well that's what I had to do. Or she would be naked in seconds, no matter what i put on her over the diaper. Those pull tabs are so easy to open. I even tried pinning it but she would just rip the pins off...
However yours is older so I would start potty training him. Get some pull ups.

he might be ready for potty training, though from past experience with having all boys they usually don't start until 2 1/2 yrs old, but each child is different. give it a shot and see if it works, but don't get too upset if it doesn't. you might have to revert to diapers and duct tape!...lol I should have bought stock in it with my 3 yr old because he always is taking off his diaper...now I duct tape it on! and for those of you out there who may judge me because my 3 yr old is in diapers.....he has down syndrome and not ready to be potty trained yet...so there...lol another option instead of duct tape which might work is buying big boy underwear that is a bit small for him and putting it on over the diaper...for some kids this works...mine however became very persistent...lol

I've got some diaper covers (I do cloth diapers, but you could easily put them over disposables) that velcro on, but they also have a clip that is specially designed to keep the baby from taking it off. You could just get one or two of those, and it would prevent leaks (they're fantasic at this!) as well as keep the diaper on! The ones I have are Proraps Colors, and they come in blue, mint green, pink and white, and you can get them on E-bay or most other cloth diapering sites. They work wonders!

That is a hoot. My son same age does the same thing. We have started putting him on the potty and he does sit on it and go most of the time (always before a bath or if big bro or sis are in there) but still does not have the whole concept put together. To help keep his pants on we have to put him in onsies, snap in the crotch shirts or pants that are too hard to pull down. Good luck and if you figure out any great secrets pass them along!

Good luck with that! LOL My brothers are twins and we used to spend sooo much time getting them ready first when we wanted to go somewhere then my parents and I would get ready and more than once a neighbor called during the process to report the boys out in the yard naked! They love to undress once they figure it out! As to potty training it's probably a good idea to start but don't expect too much as the little guy is young and boys usually take longer to train. (this continues later in life too as we ladies know)

Aaaahhhh, I remember those days. I would leave my daughter alone for thirty seconds, or just turn my back, and turn back around and find her naked. I thought she was ready to potty train then, too. No luck. She stopped taking off her diapers, and she still screams when I try to put her on the toilet.
