Aside from any developmental problems your child may have, yes, your 5 year old is too old for a diaper. If you're talking about nighttime wetting the bed, you may want to consider the overnights brand of thicker underwear. If we're talking during the day, the child should be able to get himself to the bathroom or at least tell you when he has to go before he has to go.

It honestly depends on the situation. All of my kids have been out of diapers by age 3, but nobody parents the same way. If your child is having emotional issues and has many accidents at night time, hence the reason for the diapers...you might want to seek professional help. It is said that children that still wet the bed once they hit the "school age" could possibly at some point in time been exposed to sexual abuse. Not to say that your child has by any means, but it is definitely something to check into if you are worried. All in all unless the child has some form of handicap, then yes 5 is too old to be in diapers even if it is just sometimes.

If he needs it for the night time then try pull ups or Goodnites. Totally get out of diapers, they're for babies. If he needs them for any other time than the night then he may have a serious problem and you need to take him to the Dr. If he just rely's on diapers so he doesn't have to go to the bathroom, then stop ASAP. He cannot go to school in diapers!

Yes. If the child has an accident, for instants peas just let them sit in it till they get cold. If it is winter they learn in a hurry. I am a mother of 3 and I have had all my children potty trained by the time they were all 2 1/2. It is the parents duty to take the time to train there child. And to stop using pull up every time you go out. You do this for your convenience, and in return delaying your child what they should have learned 2 years ago. So until you feel safe just bring extra cloths.

The pediatrician that I work for tells parents NO if it is at night it is alright. During the day he should not be. Night blabber reactions can take up until age 8 to regulate, but during the day he should be able to hold it until he gets to a potty. If it persists, you should have him checked out...

Yes. ...by age 5 your child should be fully potty trained, unless there's some sort of medical reason that they are having issues.
