If you are in the UK, you have sadly missed the deadline for application for a Reception place in September.
For most councils, the deadline was in early December and the places have now been allocated and letters sent out. Sadly this means the best schools will be full.
You should have received a form in October for application for a place, it would be very strange if you did not and you should find out why.
However I suggest you contact your local council admission section (you should find the number on the web as I do not know where you live) and ask for help and a list of which schools have vacancies.
If you are on the border of two councils, you could contact both of them, you have a right to apply to any council you want, not just the one you live in.
Once you know which schools have places, you can find out more info about these schools by visiting
www.dfes.gov.uk for SATS results.
www.ofsted.gov.uk for Ofsted reports, well worth looking at
www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk for other data
the school website - a decent school should have a website with information etc on it.
You should also visit the school, sometimes schools look good on paper but when you visit them you may find they are just not right for your child.
If there is a local school where there are no places but you really want your daughter to go there, you have the right to appeal for a place and should ask the admissions department how to do this. However as places have now been allocated this is unlikely to be successful.
You can also place your daughter on waiting lists, someone may move house or change their mind before September and a place may come up for her.

You need to first of all get advice from your LEA (Local Education Authority). Call the council switchboard and ask for the education department. You need to act fast because as far as I'm aware, place have already been allocated for this September. You may be too late for your first choice school, but I hope not. Good luck!

If you are in England then you may already have missed the deadline for applying for a primary school (age 4 and up). Which local authority do you live in? Search on Google for the local authority name and check out their website. It's usually easiest to send your children to the nearest school as this means her friends will live nearby too and you don't need to drive to the school each day.

Go to the naeyc.org website, and make sure that any preschool you pick is NAEYC accredited.
There are too many unsafe, flaky, home-based day care centers out there.
Update - 22:41 GMT - I can't imagine why anyone would give a thumbs DOWN to recommending that you investigate with a non-profit childcare accreditation organization ... unless that individual runs an "unsafe, flaky, home-based daycare center".
None-the-less, if you want someplace safe for your child, you will investigate through an impartial agency. Hopefully one that sets high standards for preschools.
