My son turned 3 years old five months ago. My fiance and I have been trying to teach him how to count. We go over it and over it again.....he just does not get it. He will count like this......1,2,7....and that is all we can ever get out of him. We have layed out toys and even cookies to get him to count. But nothing has worked. He is smart enough to carry on conversations in full sentences. He can answer all questions I ask correctly. But I don't get why he can't count.

Should I hire a tutor who is an expert in teaching toddlers to come like 2 times a week??? Or is he too young for that.

NOTE: He does not go to daycare as of right now. I have been a stay at home Mom for 2 months now. But he was in daycare since he was 8 months old. He then went to preschool at 2 years old.

My 20mo old is waking up w/ wet sheets a lot lately. He is filling his diaper at night and it just leaks out.
We're using Pampers and we've had good luck w/ them before. We've stopped giving him water right before bed for the most part, but sometimes he really wants it, and I don't want to tell him no if he's thirsty.
He's started using the potty every now and then, so we're putting him on it at night and letting him pee-pee right before bed. (Sometimes he doesn't have to go, but usu he will.)
Any other ideas? Or anyone else have trouble with this?
Its getting so frustrating to change his sheets, wash his stuffed animals, give him a bath, etc. every single morning! He's not playing with the diaper or anything. He's definitely not doing anything wrong, so I'm trying not to let him sense our frustration either. Its just an unfortunate situation.
I don't know what else to try!

My daughter is going to be 2 in 2 weeks, and has an ear infection. The pediatrician gave me amoxicillin for her to take, but she throws a fit every 12 hours. He suggested I hold her nose, since she has to swallow it to breathe, but she just spits it all out first. I've never had a problem with my other 3 children...they all loved the taste. But this child is so stubborn...more ends up in her hair, the couch and her shirt, than down her throat. Any suggestions?

How do you get a child not to be so caught up on being held all the time? Do you just put them down and let them cry it off?

Just curious what you stay-at-home mothers do with your toddlers and preschoolers all day? Do you have some sort of formalized "curriculum" or schedule that you do with them to teach them various things? Or do you let them decide what they want to do? I stay at home with my two boys, ages 1 & 3, and I feel really guilty all the time that I don't do any sort of formal teaching or activities with them. We really don't watch much TV; most of the time, I just let them play freely. My three-year-old is especially into playing firefighter these days. Anyway, just wondering!
Thanks!

My daughters hair is getting long. I cut her bangs often, but now she has a fit when it is washed, and it gets in her face. She hates having it put up. Any ideas of a good style for a two year old girl? It is past her shoulders at the back right now. (Strawberry blond/blue eyes). Thanks!

Iam beside myself with my daughters constant crying. We have just gotten up from the dinner table and she has told me that she is not hungry any more and wants down. We are cleaning the table from dinner and she says to me she is hungry and wants something to eat. I say no of course because she did not finish her dinner. What does she do? She cries. I say it's time for bed she cries. I tell her to leave her blanket at daycare, she cries. She leaves her blanket at home after being told not to take it home, she cries. I tell her it's time for a bath she cries. I tell her hi you look pretty, she cries. I almost don't want to go home anymore because between my 1 year old and my 5 year old it is like a crying symphony in my house at any given moment. I can not go on like this anymore. Please someone help, what can I do to get my 5 year old to stop crying more than her 1 year old brother.

That I won't let my daughter stand right in front of the microwave while it is cooking something? My husband says she should be able to stand right in front of it (she likes to watch the popcorn pop) and I think she should stand back.

We have had a lot of trouble with my four year old step son wanting to stay the night in his room at our home. He is only with us every other weekend, and sometimes at night when we put him down for bed, he just wants his mommy. Its hard for all of us. But we are having to move again this weekend and we are expecting a new baby in a couple of months. He is going ot have a hard time adjusting to this. Anyways I want to make his bedroom something extravagant! We are thinking a spiderman theme for his room. I am going to paint tomorrow, I need some ideas on how to paint, colors, decorations, how to make designs?? Something that can wow a four year old! All ideas welcome! Thanks!!
