You're on the road to a rough segue from your daughter being the center of attention to being self-reliant. This is the hardest time to teach your daughter to do things on her own. Before the birth or long after are the best times, but now (unless you are very careful) you have set yourself up to have your daughter resent the newborn for stealing center stage from her.

Be very careful how you word things. Telling her that she needs to do it herself because the baby needs you is just going to crush her and set her against her new sibling. Saying that you want to see what a big girl she is and then saying how the newborn could never do that alone will help her see this as a good thing. Be as attentive to her needs as you can and, when teaching her to do things, try to get her to understand that its a wonderful thing to do things on your own. Compare her to her sibling in positive ways that reinforce her confidence in her own abilities.

It will be hard. Work on one thing at a time. Buy slip on/zip up shoes to start. What ever you can do to make getting out the door in the morning easier is the best. You might need to keep doing things for her, just don't tell her you can't do it anymore because of the baby. You don't want her to resent the baby.

if you have already shown her how... given her a little class on the getting dressed part and the buttoning then its time to let her do it....
I would suggest the night before putting her to bed a little early and talk about how in the morning the 'big girl' is gonna dress herself... (probably putting out the clothes the night before is good too)... if youhave somewhere to be or preschool for her to go to then wake her up earlier than normal, just so she has time to do it herself without the stress of time limits and such... Then of course lots and lots of praise when she gets it done... even if its all goofy looking, she'll be excited and want to do it herself forever... if all goes according to plan...

show her how to do it then you could ask her to show the baby what a big/clever girl she is dressing her self.you could race her to get dressed first.obviously you would NEVER EVER win lol.

children pick up adults very fast ,so whatever you do they do adopt their gentle ways, so if you do good ones in her way she could pick up fast
