He only drinks a bottle before bed time, but it is a nightly ritual. I tried to give him his pacifier last night when I was rocking him to see how he would react and he cried until I gave him his bottle. Any advice?

I try and stay calm and talk to him about how it's ok just try it again and things like that but he is just a baby he dosen't speak english so how do i get him to relax and try again before he has a melt down?

He's been toilet trained since 2 (day/night/pee/and poop). I think he's being lazy, we've been using pullups during the day b/c I'm tired of washing underwear. He's mad he has to wear them, but it hasn't helped.

I have an alost 7 yr old step son and his mother is a total loss...but she decided that she wants to come for christmas. (The last time he seen her was last christmas.) I am totally upset because for 5 yrs now I have done it all from potty train and go to his first day of school. I want him to have his mom but I just feel pushed out here.My husband just rolls over and plays dead when It comes to her..and I am pretty sure that she will come and stay at our house...because neither of us trust her. I love the boy with all my heart and I am trying to be a grownup about it, but I am having a baby in about three weeks and I am stressed and emotional.
My husband says I am acting like a physcho and I most likely am...I am just getting tired of it. She acts like she should get the mother of the year award for showing up once a year...no child support just christmas presents..and she brings them for our three year old too....like that's going to help. Am I over reacting? HELP!!!!

My daughter can talk. She makes specific requests but prefers to use her hands and eyes to communicate. Most children at this age are more verbally expressive and I worry that I may be doing something wrong. Her pediatrician does not believe that she has autisim. Any suggestions?

My daughter just turned 2 on the 9th of Dec. She is suddenly fearful of almost anything anywhere. She seen Santa Claus on a gift bag and was fine with it (was actually excited to see it) until dad said in a deep voice, "Santa says ho, ho, ho." Then she was totally freaked out by the bag and wouldn't even touch it. This happened in our own house and she wouldn't let me put her down. She clung onto me with all her might. She used to go to bed just fine too and now, the last two nights she has cried and screamed at the top of her lungs. I tried to ignore her because usually after 5min. of crying she'll go to sleep, but last night she screamed for 20min. I just don't know what to do for her. I don't want her to get used to us rocking her. She usually goes to sleep just fine on her own. Does anyone have any suggestions how to calm this fear during the day and night?? Especially bed time.

I have had 2 children the last beening 10 months ago and I eally need to lose the extra weight. I would feel a whole lot better, more energized for my kids. But now my husband is trying to help by giving me insentive. He is a long time smoker and I would love for him to quit but he said he like smoking. The other night he made a bet with me that if I loose 30 pounds he'll take a dance calss with me and if I can loose 50pounds he'll quit smoking. I need and can to do this! I am a very fussy eater. My husband can never watch the kids cause of his work schedule and I can't afford to pay a sitter and pay for a member ship to a gym. How can I still get the work out I need with a 3 year old and 10 month old on my hip. Any sugestions?

I sent my daughter to daycare with out a diaper rash. She came home red as can be (it isn't on her bottom it's all on her front)
I was told she had a BM and wasn't changed for 30 mins which is not good to if you smell it you should change it asap!
My daycare director is saying she had to have a rash before she came in and it didn't happen in one day.
My daughter does have skin allergies does that come into play to make it red faster?
Thanks

He won't take a pacifier. The pedi recommended Domeboro, which I tried but can't get him to soak for more than a minute. He won't keep any kind of wrap on his fingers. I use Aquaphor several times a day also. This all helps, but still isn't really fixing it.

My 17 month old has been taking her diapers off for almost a year. She figured out early on how to remove the tabs, and when she's wet or messy, off come the pants and the diaper! Last week I caught her trying to take her diaper off with her pants on! We've tried duct tape, which she also learned to remove, and I try to keep her in pants for her naps, but when she wakes up, she takes them off. I'm considering starting to potty train, but is it too young? She's not in a toddler bed yet, she won't stay put, should I wait until she makes that switch? Is it possible to potty train while still in the crib? Help, please!

I have an almost- 2-year-old niece and I adore her! I used to live fairly close to them, but I took a job out of state and moved. When I saw her over Thanksgiving, she cried if I held her and ran to her mom when I tried to play with her. I don't get it!! It had been about 4 months since I'd last seen her so I know she forgot me, but she used to love to play with and go to me. Now I'm going back there for Christmas and I want to know if there is anything I can do to make her like me again? She literally seems terrified of me and I'm crushed!

I have a 3.5 yr old son who behaves really badly for my husband and I when we pick him up from school, It has become very discerning as we love him lots and look forward to taking him home each night, he seems to be the only child that does this that bad, he screams at us and hits and pushes us away.
amidst making us feel very bad it is embarrassing too, because people (peers, teachers) wonder why he so desperatly does not want to come home

We're in the process of starting to potty train our 33 month old son. My husband and I are wondering what we should use--the disposable pants (PullUps) or the regular, old-fashioned training pants (look like real underwear, but the crotch is very padded to absorb). Any advice?

constantly lying and my sister can not handle it anymore. A little background - He was in foster care and my sister had him since he's been 16 month's old. She adopted him when he was six years old. He has integrity issues and was sent to live with me in September 2006. I have caught him in soooo many untruths that it's beginning to get to me. He lies about school work and anything else he feels that he could lie about. Yes, we all tell untruths from time to time but this is constant with this child. He's been punished and things have been taken away from him as well as some priviledges. I need solutions because I've just about had enough. There are more things that my family is going through with my nephew, but I don't have enough room to write them all down. He is really tearing my family apart. He's very bright and was put into a program at school for talented and gifted children but outed 4 behavior. I would appreciate serious replies. I thank all who answer in advance

My son is 27 months old, and in the process of potty training. My problem is this....no matter how consistant I am, he will do marvelous (staying dry all day, even nap times, even doing #2 in the potty...even stays dry during naps.) for about three or four days, and then he will have about two days, where he REFUSES to use the potty. Then he will go three or four more days on the potty. I am a young(22) single mother with sole custody. My mother helps me with him alot, and even she said that none of the other kids in the family did like that. What am I doing wrong, or what should I do differantly? I know all kids develope this skill at differant paces, but im at a loss as to why the gap. Could he just be stubborn? Also, with a house full of females(myself, my mother, and my sister) my son wants to sit down to pee alot of the time. He just recently, after a visit to my brothers house, discovered standing up to pee.....how do i encourage the standing up?
