My daughter is 2 yrs old and I am having her pictures taken this saturday. I can barley get her to sit still to take at home pictures how am i going to get her to pose all cute for a stranger! Any helpful hints would be great. Dont answer if your going to be rude

Trust the photographer. They're trained to deal with antsy children. They seriously can work miracles.

I have a very "hyper" child who is four and I have the same problem, but when I take them (I have two children) to have their pictures taken, the photographer has a "tough time" at first, but they are so good where I take them that the pictures just come out great!
I use picture people, and this is not an endorsement for them, but they are the only people who have been able to get great pictures of my children.
I don't know if they take classes in how to get the kids to pose and the such or what, but nonetheless, they are awesome!

Give her her favoite toy...take her out to lunch after, just say "After we our picture taken we are going to get lunch. But you have to be good and listen to the nice man/women and mommy. Ok?" If that doesnt work try sitting with her and at the last minute jump out of the picture. My mom has also done like standing behind the photographer and talking to the child. Tell them a story read a book any of those things work. And also the photographers are trained and they will know how to get her to sit still.

One thing you can do to help keep her looking at you & smiling is to make funny faces. You can also try a 'keep-still contest' - tell between her & you, whoever keeps still the longest wins & gets a prize. Also, some photography studios are great for taking candid, unposed photos. This allows the child to show their personality & gives them some flexibility as to what they will be doing in the picture. Either way, photographers are used to taking pictures of active toddlers, so whatever photo technique they use, they will already have a plan - I wouldn't worry too much.

About the pose I don't know but they have thing to make them smile, like before they take it they pop a dog in there face and they laugh or sometimes they have a funny looking camera. Maybe you tell her if she poses all nice for the camera she will get a reward when she gets home. Also you could practice by acting like the stranger and she could learn that it is okay.

Make sure that she has had a nap. The person taking the pictures usually holds their attention because she doesn't know him/her. The photographer will usually have ways to amuse the children and actually make them smile/laugh. Personally i have had great pictures of my children taken and then i have had a few done when my 5yr old did not cooperate at all. I'm sure they will turn out great. Good luck

This is every mothers nightmare...for some reason...photographers...(even the ones at Wal-Mart) have been given this special power upon hiring to get the most naughty children to sit still and smile pretty! Good luck, just make sure she isn't tired and has a full tummy!

The professionals know what to do, I work in a daycare center and they take great pictures of children from 1 to 5 years old! They make them laugh, use stuffed animals on their heads, say silly things, etc! Don't worry!

Take along some of her favorite play things. Let the photographer know what is going on. Go there and "play" until she is comfortable...it will take longer than usual, but you should be able to get a few shots.

you know i had this same thought when i got my sons pictures taken he doesnt sit at all hes gotta be here and there and i thought the pictures will never happen but i thought i would give it a shot and i was so surprized at how good he did the person taken the picture will do something special to help them sit down like the lady had an animal and kept waving it and touching his face with it I WAS SHOCKED there like trained to deal with hyper babes like mine and yours so good luck

I wouldn't worry so much, the photographers are trained to keep a child's attention. I was worried the first time I took any of my kids in too, but they did a great job playing with them and getting their attention.
