For example if she throws tantrums to change her diaper... almost every time, or refuses to hold my hand and listen to me to get out of the road when we go for walks? Some things can be potentially fatal, but she is stubborn and wants to do it her way. I need an immediate show of obedience from her at times, how can i teach her to understand that some things are urgent and i need her to obey immediately?

My husband has another child, who is now 20 years old. We have only recently started communicating with her, after 9 years of no communication. We are getting to a point where we may meet up with her. How do you explain to a 4 year old that she has a sister that she has never met?

I have two young nephews (1 and 3). To help them count down to Christmas, I got an advent calender. Instead of candy or small toys, I want to put activites like a scavenger hunt to do, especially the three year old. Any ideas?

I started potty training Joe last month, He is great around the house (asks to go when he needs to). but has problems outdoors. We enjoy walks in the woods when I finish work for the day, On one occasion though He said that he needed to go (he does try before we leave the house) when we were out & with no toilet around cried when he wet his 'Bob the builder' pants.
What is the best advice you can give for when there is no toilet available (appart from pull-ups).
Thank you so much
Christopher.

I think it's nasty how this group wear the spandex suits on a kids show.....I mean the women at least have skirts on theirs, but the mens packages are sticking out and it bothers me that kids watch this. I don't like my girls watching this because I, myself find it repulsive and I think that they don't need to see this on a kids show.....am I over reacting?

How do I teach my 2 year old son to care for his glasses? He just got them last week. We didn't realize he was half blind without them (always extremely clumsy but we thought that it was maybe because he started walking REALLY early), until his older brother had to get glasses so we got him checked. Our 4 year old began taking care of his glasses from the very first day, but our 2 year old rips them off his face, throws them across the room, bends them, etc. and we cannot convince him that he needs to take care of them. They were VERY expensive and my insurance through my office won't come into effect until after the first of the year so I do not want to have to buy another pair before then. What can I do to make him understand?

She refuses to eat in her high chair and wont eat from a bowl. The on;y way i can get her to eat is if she walks around and helps herself to something from the fridge. I have tried even letting her feed herself but she just doesnt want to know. She is currently underweight for her age but not by far.

My daughter is in preschool and they celebrate everything! Every child's birthday is celebrated in class. Being new to this I'm not sure the proper procedure for gifts. Are you obligated to give a gift even if the child doesn't have a party outside of school? We have missed several already and I didn't even give it a second thought until now. My child's birthday is coming up soon and I want to make sure I haven't screwed things up for her. We are planning on having a party and inviting the entire class but not all the children who have had past birthdays invited her to a party. What is the proper procedure these days? Help!

im a stay at home mom but recently i have been letting my daughter go over her dads for 2-4 hours and he stays with his girlfriend and she has a little girl and boy that are about 3 and 4 years old but it seems as though these past couple of days my daughter has been humping her pillow or her doll and and she shows no signs of sexual abuse but im concerned that either him and his girl friend have no respect for my daughter and do stuff in front of her or im afraid that her little boy might be "playing" with her and i dont know how to get my daughter to understand that it isnt right for her to do that or how to approach the father about it without sounding accusing but protective.

(this is my first child and im stressed with another on the way by the same guy so please be helpful and refrain from making stupid comments)

Fom the time she wakes up she cries, screams and will not talk in a normal voice and throws things on the floor and is very messy.
When we try to correct her she will always cry.
Is this the "terrible twos" thing and will she grow out of it?
If we try (time out) it does not work and she just screams louder. Any suggestions or advice?
