Every night when my dad got home from work he would color with me in my coloring book . . he'd color one side of the book and i'd color the other . . we also played chutes and ladders . . 'cheerio ' (is that the name?) my mother stayed home with me and we did crafts and things together.

My mom stayed at home with me and I remember playing mostly Old Maids, Candyland, Go-Fish, etc. I have 3 kids now, (12, 10, and 3) and one of the best games I found was suggested in a magazine; it's to get several boxes or containers, etc. that you can't see through and to let your little one watch you put an object into one of them, then scramble or mix the location of the containers and see if the child can find the object. Great for memory building (and really cheap!). :)

My dad would let us ride on his back and pretend he was an elephant. He would take long wavy steps so it was really hard to stay on his back and then he would pretend his arm was the elephant's trunk, rear up on his knees and make a loud roaring sound. Of course we would fall off his back laughing and begging him to do it again and again.

When we were a little older, we would turn off all the lights at night and play hide and seek. It was scary and really fun.

Thanks for the memory jogger!!

We used to play a game with dice. Each number on the dice meant you had to do something(roll, jump, skip, run, hug) and what ever you landed on you had to do. Its a good way to get you close to your son or daughter.
