Big. She'll probably have problems handling the small ones. Plus the big ones make bigger stains on your walls :-)

I would definitely start with the big ones because they are usually more durable for little hands and easier for them to hold; however, if your child has an older brother or sister and is wise to the world that there are other sizes of crayons available and wants to use the other kinds they may have seen, why not let them try those too? Just be prepared that they will probably break more easily and don't expect them to keep them all like new. It's unrealistic and they're just learning. My three-year old does have older siblings and has done very well with the normal-sized crayons. Word to the wise: Beware of the markers!!! And, if the little ones don't use the crayons and/or anything in the way you want to teach them to, take away the privilege until they are ready. Have fun!!! :)

My daughter is 2 and she has no problem using the smaller ones. She has used both. But she likes the smaller crayons better!!! the bigger ones are too big for her small hands

Buy a pack of each and let your daughter try both kinds and that is about the only way to tell which kind id better for her. My 2 year old uses the smaller ones and she has no problems with them. The only way she can break them is to do it on purpose. Let your daughter decide. She will be the betermining factor in this situation. Good Luck

My 3 yr old likes the little crayons. She handles them well. We are starting to work on writing rather than just coloring. The little crayons are easier for her to use than a pen or pencil.

it sounds funny but 3 year olds don't know their own strenth. they will break them so you should buy the big ones. their hands can hold them better since they really are just learning how to properly hold such thinkgs. you will find that even the big crayons will break when being used by three year olds but that is your best bet.

My three year old LOVES to color. She prefers the small ones. She actually colors in the lines. My five year old, well she has too much stuff to get into to bother coloring. But it's a great way to keep them entertained for a while.

I think she could probably grasp the small ones, but she's too little to understand not to put so much pressure on them, and they'll break really fast. I would get the big ones.

Buy the big ones. Small children can grip those better, and they are less likely to break.
