Money is a major issue in my life right now. I was wondering what I can feed my kids without feeling guilty. I find it easy to buy crappy food because it is really cheap but I feel so bad feeding it to my kids. Thanks!

For those mommy's who smoke infront of their kids and in the car with the windows rolled down (do you not realize this rolls back to them)?! Second hand smoking is so detrimental to impairing a kids health. Why do you do it, for those who do it. Why can't you take it outside?

I was forced to go to school and become an engineer. I didn't get time to develop my own skills or decide what I wanted to do . My mom wanted to become an engineer. Now that i think backwards ,i realize the amount of pressure i was under. I was scrutinized and my self esteem was shot down because my own parents didn't believe in me.

Do you think this could be a reason why i don't have any motivation to find a job in my field of engineering(elec and comp ) ?? actually i dn't mind working as an engineer for a while before starting to pursue my own DREAMS. but i can't even " do that " :(

P.S: i started working at this call center nd they pay 14 dollars per hour ..Is this good enough for me ?

Why is so associated with poor parenting now, when 30 years ago it was perfectly acceptable and was a good way to teach them to behave? Now I know that there's the problem with child abuse and stuff, but if your kids are getting an occasional spanking for out of control or unacceptable behavior and this happens once in a while, what is so bad with it?

my ex and i decided on a custody plan. i got all the paper work from his lawyer in the mail on Friday i dont completely understand it all and according to his lawyer i cant ask him becuase he represents my ex. i talked to my tax lady cause the papers say i can claim her as a dependent this year and he can claim head of household, but he has to have her a certain amount of days to do that, she was born in July and resides with me in October we started the 50/50 custody, my question is if i called like legal aid or some place that offers free lawyers would they sit down and explain everything to me i'm not looking for someone to represent me, just look things over cause i dont think its very fair he could claim head of household when she was with me most the year until half the time this month. i'm just confused. he already got off easy and only has to pay 55 dollars a month in child support...help!

My husband and I recently got full custody of my stepdaughter. She absolutely adores my mom, and calls her meemaw. She used to adore my stepfather, but now she is petrified of him. When we go to my mom's for Sunday dinner, she screams and cries, and refuses to go inside the house. I have no clue as to what has happened, and it's beginning to frighten me.
My mom and her husband just recently got back together, they had been separated for some time, and they are now trying to work out their differences. I'm not fond of him myself, never have been, and I'm worried he's done something to my stepdaughter. What should I do?

he was hoping for a boy, but we found out we're having a girl. he doesn't think he'll be able to play with her or do any activities with her, since she's a girl (he's very good playing rough & tumble games with my friends' boys).

does anyone have any suggestions on what i could tell him to ease his mind? I'm certain that he'll be a great dad, but he's so anxious now! (he's not disappointed or anything, just worried about his role)

thanks!

I am 8 weeks pregnant and it has been a long journey with the babys father. We are not together and we are havin a tough time communicating. I recently found out that he has been talking behind my back and "tolerating" me so that I can be quiet and not remind me that he has a responsibility. I found this out through breaking into his emails and overtaking his myspace account. His myspace account now depicts a "sperm donor". His Mother had the audacity to call me mentally unstable an she is worried about her granchild because of my mental health. I am not crazy, just frustrated. He is not stepping up to the plate and refuses to speak with me. So I took it upon myself to send him a wakeup call. I refuse to give him back his email passwords. He cant break into them because I changed all his information. I am sick and tired of this game. I thought it would make me feel better but I still feel like crap. HIs Mom says Im punishing her by threatening he cant see his kid. I am drained!!!!

I am a live in nanny for five boys ages 8-14.
One is handicapt- I have to dress, change diaper, everything for him.
I have to do their laundry and clean up after them also.
Three days a week I have to pick up one of the boys at school.
Two days a week (at least) I have to take one to football.
There grandma helps out some.
How much should I be getting paid a week?

my 2 year old is into everything. i know-typical 2 year old. i know he is just testing me, but some days i can't control myself and have yelled at him, and then feel terrible afterward. i would like advice on how you handle when your child dumps water all over the bathroom floor, takes his diaper off and pees on the carpet, dumps all his dinner on the floor, etc. He is disciplined and gets time out. i also try and talk to him when he does these things to tell him they are wrong. i just sometimes think he knows better, but some days he gets the best of me. i hate yelling, but sometimes it just happens....any advice?????

There are three people that I know right off the top of my head who do not discipline their children (they are all young children ages 2 to 7) and their homes are a complete disaster area. Clothes everywhere, food on the floors, toys all over the place, crayon and marker on the walls, etc. The furniture is filthy and worn out. The kids jump off the furniture, stand on top of it, slam doors, go in and out of the refrigerator, etc. Just total chaos.

It just goes to show that if parents allow their children to misbehave and rule them, then the children usually end up terrorizing the home as well. Has anybody else noticed this? Why do some people let their children run ragged like this?

I live is Southern Cali and have 3 elementary kids.
I walk them to and from school, less then a 5 min walk for us.
I get up brush my hair- not always teeth( ruins the coffee), and dressed.
I see alot of Moms and Dads walk their kids up wearing PJ's ,slippers, and yes even robes.
I am not much of a morning person but some even pick them up, in the afternoon wearing the same outfit.
Imagine the embarrassment of the kids.
Please tell me what you look like dropping your kids off at daycare/school.........

I don't have children right but I want to in a few years. What are some good ways to raise polite and well mannered children? I don't want my kids to be the type to talk back and throw fits and then just let them away with it. So anyone with good advice, let me no some good teqniques.
Also do you believe in a spanking once in awhile? My parents did me once and awhile because I was bad the odd time. I know a lot of parents that do and they say it helps a lot and that sometimes verbal talk is not enough. They also explained to me how it says in the bible that a spanking once and awhile is what children need. What do you parents think?

My 3 year old took my cellphone a couple hours ago, and had me searching all over the house for it. Something told me to go to T-mobile.com to see if she called anyone, and BOY DID SHE!!!! She ran my bill up $10, calling 411 and an old friend of mine that I haven't spoke to in years. She called him 3 times, and one time she was on the phone with my friend for over an hour. Should I call my friend to apologize?? What should I tell my daughter?? She is always taking my stuff and hiding it!

I am against it. I have a 5 year old that has never been spanked and she is better than 3/4 of the children that I have encountered.

My daughter is 11 and wants her ears pierced. I think she's old enough but my ex-husband (her father) would like her to wait until she's 16 or 14 at the earliest. She has every other weekend at his house but lives with me the rest of the time. Shall I just get it done? He is Mr Angry and will probably shout lots which is one of the reasons we have split.

My daughter is 4. Her usual bedtime is 7:30. She just told me she was tired and wanted to go to bed and it's only 5:00 p.m. I wouldn't dream usually of putting her down this early but because she asked, I took her and changed her into her PJs and helped her brush her teeth and laid her down. The poor thing could hardly keep her eyes open and she had a big day at Sunday School (They played outside in the fresh air- always tires kids out).

My husband seems to think I should have made her stay up until 7. Whose right?

I really would like to understand why, with so many real issues involving children that are important, such as abuse, sexual assault, or obvious neglect, do parents have to argue, insult, judge and put down other parents over issues like:
SAHM VS. WORKING MOMS
DAYCARE VS. NON-DAYCARE
BREASTFEEDING VS. FORMULA
SPANKING VS. NON-SPANKERS

Why does a person even get themselves all worked up, to the point of being nasty, insulting and judgemental, towards another parent who doesn't raise their kids the same way that parent does? Why do some people care if Jane Doe in San Antonio, Texas works outside the home? Or the fact that Mary Smith in Miami, Florida spanks her kids?
For those who feel the need to insult, put down, call names, tell others they don't love their kids, are bad parents, or that they shouldn't have had kids, WHY DO YOU CARE HOW ANOTHER PARENT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW RAISES THEIR KIDS?

One of my sons always changes my "Owner" icon on the computer for me. First it was a lovely soccer ball, then a cute little froggy, and today it is a shiny guitar. I'll give him a big hug when he wakes up. :-)
