I am a live in nanny for five boys ages 8-14.
One is handicapt- I have to dress, change diaper, everything for him.
I have to do their laundry and clean up after them also.
Three days a week I have to pick up one of the boys at school.
Two days a week (at least) I have to take one to football.
There grandma helps out some.
How much should I be getting paid a week?

It is basically a 24/7 job. I get maybe one full day off a week and even then get asked to do stuff.

As a live in, I would think you should be getting somewhere between $500-$700 a week. You don't mention if the car is your car or thiers, if you can use it off duty and who is paying the insurance (if it is your own car, they should be paying part of the insurance cost to insure at a higher rate as you are driving the kids). However, that would be if you were simply doing a "normal" nanny job with the five boys. The fact that one is handicapped and requires extra care should push you up higher. Now truth is, very few families out there can afford that. I would suggest you go for $350 a week, coming up with a number of hours that includes (which should be no more than 45..this gives a 40 hour work week and time for commuting), with an hourly rate for any addtional hours (I would suggest $5-$7 per hour). YOu also need to have one night off a week and the equivalant of a full weekend. If they refuse, than simply state you will need to paid along the lines of how they would want to be paid for working extended overtime. Too many times, nannys end up being the "fall guy" for everything. It is easy to say the nanny will do it. If you are seeing the same treatement towards Grandma, than you may need to start looking for another job.

Live-in is always a horrible corner to back yourself into, because then parents do tend to take advantage of you always being there. To get more time off, when the parents are home, go out.

You should be making atleast $450 a week, but depending on how many hours a day you are actually 'on' and not just doing small things here and there, I would say you should be making close to $600+.

Without rent to pay, food to buy, utilities to pay, $1800 a month is a very liveable wage.

well given your room and board is paid for i would think
$700-$1000/ week is reasonable, especially if one is handicapped. If the 14yr old is the one going to football, a 14yr old can mind themselves but preparing meals, cleaning house and doing the grocery shopping is a lot of work, plus minding all the kids 24/7

Do you buy your own food and supplies? If so, I think at least $500 week is fair. That isn't as much as some would charge, but they can't expect you to work for peanuts! It is one thing if you are a family member, etc.

i think you should be getting atleast 80 a week only because one you really have to help out don't go above because i disagree with the person saying 700 to 1000 that is entirely to much

i think you should get paid 50$ per day plus ur boarding and Dinner expenses, if you are staying with them then i guess you dont need expenses for food and room only 40-50% per day would be justifiable.
