My kids are beyond the chewing toy phase, but with all these recent recalls over lead in toys, I wonder if their old toys had lead in them too. Should I take them to the doctor and have their blood checked???? What about ourselves? I had a lot of plastic toys as a kids and who knows what was in them.

I would like my wife to attend parent/teacher conferences with me for my child who she is very close to.The problem is my exwife(mom) who DOES NOT want my wife to go "as she is not my sons mother".Can my ex "legally" keep my wife from going if i want her there?I have joint custody with my exwife and the only reason my ex does not want her there is bitterness and control issue.if this goes to court what will the judge say?

okay. well im 14 years old and a sophomore in high school. i have a flu right now and my mom is being really unreasonable to put it in a nice way. i haven't been at school for the past two days but i had come home from school after first period. so yesterday i stayed home sick just eating soup and stuff while my mom is at the casino. shes addicted to gambling. I hate it. So i thought she was at work last night and come 11:30PM she wasn't home. I was starting to get worried and called her work because she gets off at 10PM. She wasn't there. I was so worried and she showed up at 11:45, I thought she was at work and it was a casino instead. Anyway, so this morning she wakes up and trys to get me out of bed and such, I said I'm sick I'm not going to school. we got into this huge argument and I really am sick! So now she says if I dont go to school shes going to sell my dog. I've had this dog for about 6 months now and she doesn't want him because hes too much of a pet when she shows dogs.

My childer will be one in Nov. and the holidays are coming up and this is the first time i will ever have to "make" christmas, and I have some traditions in mind.
like:
Santa will leave a present on your bed christmas eve, and its always PJ's to wear that night.

Milk and cookies, and carrots.....

and we put up the tree every year after thanksgiving as a family and decorate it.

also every year they get a new ornament that has the date and their name on it.....

But I am open for suggestions, please I want them to grow up feeling about christmas the way i did, and it is important to me that they beleive in Santa!!!

First off. let me make clear that I am very much a breastfeeding advocate. I breastfed both of my children well into toddlerhood. I read a lot of the breastfeeding posts on here just to get a general idea what people's opinions are. A recurrent thing that I see is people posting " I don't want my 5 year old seeing THAT" ( in reference to breastfeeding in public ) When my kids were small, a very simple explaination was sufficient when we ran into a nursing mother....so I guess, what I'm asking is....exactly what is the big deal?

Of every lesson your child will learn in life... what is the most important thing you hope they learn/become? And how do you intend to teach them this "life lesson"?

I am not an atheist....but don't go to church...I pray sometimes, but religion has never been a big factor in my families life....I am sending my daughter to a Christian school where they pray before snack time and hear Bible stories....I dont want to freak her out with too much talk of God....she's never heard of Him yet....what do you think? Its important to me that she learn the morals and lifestyle that goes with being Christian...

My son is a year and a half. He's getting tall enough where the baby gate will soon be ineffective. Frankly, I'm getting tired of climbing over it---all the time. It seperates our house from our 'living areas' and our bedrooms. It's pretty much a pain. Haha. So, I was wondering when you allowed your child to roam free? How did you manage? Is it better just to leave the gate up until way later?

I'm thinking about getting a gate that has a door build in so I can open it when I need to get through. I can't even tell you how many times I've triped and fell over the darn thing while carrying laundry. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Okay, I had a bad run in with one today.

I was in the geocery store today, and I was standing behind a "Soccer Mom" (aka "Soccer Nazi")and her precious children. Her son-who had to of been like 9 or 10ish- started throwing a tantrum. I swear, he was like screaming at the top of his lungs...like a 3 year old or something. I never seen a kid that age act like that. And the lady just sat there and did nothing!

Anyways, I put my hands over ears (I probaly had a dirty look on my face)And the lady turns around. And she freaked out! She started screaming at me about how "rude and imature i was being", and "how i didn't understand how is was to be a mother" and "thats how kid's act" etc ...She acted like, or how dare you cover your ears while her precious angel was screaming! What was I to? Did she expect me to sit their and listen while her child was screaming? WHO IN THE HELL DOES SHE THINK SHE IS??

Tell me what you think about that? What are your opinons of Soccer Mom's.

I have been married what will be 5 yrs soon getting a nasty divorce and I am 25 yrs old going on 26 ;my husband is 35 yrs old.I have a daughter who is 5 yrs old from a previous relationship with an ex.bf and a son who will be turning 2 yrs old.
Long story short hubby cheated we seperated for 5-6 month(he moved in with his secratary) and i cheated in retaliation with my daughters bio-dad.When hubby and i got back together i was unaware i was pregnant with my now almost 2 yr old son.I informed hubby of the situation of paternity issues but the when the doctor placed the DOC in the timeline we got back together hubby said dna test was unnecessary.Well due to a medical emergency when my son was 1.5 we were forced to get a dna test done and it came out the child was not my hubbys which lead to my current divorce proceedings.I was a teacher but have not worked in 2 yrs.My ex.bf is still angry this happened he pays $600 in CS for our daughter but now we have a son?

I am not having a go at all. I just find it weird that some people give answers like ‘You should be married to have kids’ etc.
I have been in a wonderful relationship with my partner for 6-7 years. We have two year old twin boys, William & Tobias. Marriage is not on our cards. I don’t believe in it at all, as I have seen so many people get divorced over the years, and hardly see the point of wasting money on a wedding. Basically it is a piece of paper I can live without. The only thing I can see changing from it is a last name. I love my last name, so I doubt I would change it. Marriage doesn’t mean I love my partner or kids any less.
A lot of people feel the same way as me now days. But I really just want to know what the heck does it have to do with babies?
I am not meaning to be rude. If you could leave your opinions that would be great

I am a single mother of three children. My oldest is 13 and a girl. She started her period at the ripe young age of 9, so as far as the female sexulaity I have always been open. Last year she recieved sex ed classes and knows the concept of sex and pregnancy. I have noticed the other girls in her class doing more than flirting. My hopes is that I raise a strong minded young woman that respects herself, however I am not sure how to go about it. I was never married and I feel like a hippocrite, sort of like "do as I say not as I do". My daughter is not dating ( and from the emails I get to read) she does not have a boyfriend, this past summer I noticed her cloths were a bit more revealing on her and let me say she wear a size 9 ladies and a 36d bra..at 13??? I know when I started thinking about sex and I was young, I had no respect for myself and participated in sexual acts to gain aproval from men. Years later (with theorpy) I changed my ways. Any advice!!!!

Can anyone help me? We had to pull our children out of daycare. Our daycare provider was not happy, and before we left on the last day, she promised to mail us her SSN for tax purposes and $40 for a high chair that we bought and she broke. We waited a couple of weeks, never got anything from her. When I finally called her number her sister answered and said she moved to another state and didn't have her cell phone number, which, as close as they are I don't buy it. We paid her almost $5000 to watch our kids, and we want to be able to claim that on our taxes, but without her SSN, we can't, and it's basically like we paid her under the table, which we had absolutely NO intention of doing. We're in CA, if that helps. Is this fraud? I KNOW her sister knows how to get a hold of her, she is just unwilling to help. Should I go to the police? A lawyer? Anyone ever had anything like this happen to them?

I am 47.. so this question may not apply to everyone here age wise. But.. I was raised in a time when if you did not do what you ask, or if you smarted off to your parents, you were usually spanked, or given a slap to remind you that boundries exist and if you did not follow them, then they're were reprecussions for that! Disipline... Is it lacking with kids today?

I watched it last night. I know I probably should boycott as it offends me, but I don't think it would make any difference. I am curious to see just how far we as a society are willing to let our kids suffer for the sake of entertainment.

Please, when they had to kill the chickens they put a warning up about it not being appropriate for children. Hmm. How about the kids who are standing right there?

What kind of parent lets their 8 or 9 year old go off to live in a freezing cold wasteland by themselves?

Failing classes in school (biology)
Stays up late at night on "myspace" when he's supposed to be sleeping.
Makes a public scene when he doesn't get what he wants....

My fiance asks my thoughts on this.

His mother (fiance's X) is a bit of a control freak....
The expectations the parents have seem a bit harsh.....
get straight A's and get a scholarship for college.
I said what if he doesn't want to go to college?

No one has asked him what he wants or what his thoughts are... about anything. all his life decisions are made for him.

What are some of your thought on this?
