someone just asked about 3rd graders learning about different type of families (lesbian and gay). for those who are against it, what about the children of these gay parents? do you think it might be easier for them if their classmate saw a film about different families? and kids will know that their classmate has two moms or two dads
wouldn't it also be better that your children understand that while they have a mom and a dad, some have two moms or two dad or only one parent?
that way they don't mistreat another student out of confusion

I have been seaperated from my exhusband who had an affair for 2yrs. we have been divorced for 8months I have been dating this wonderful man over the last 15months and my ex husband and children a relentelss about it. My exhusband says inappropriate things about the man I have been dating and the kids agree with him . They make it misearble when he is here which is not often at all. Tonight my son broke 5 roses from a bouquet that my boyfriend sent me out of spite. I am at my wits end. The sitation has gotten out of control I have taking therapists advice about how to handle the situation with the kids but becaause my exhusband is having difficulty with it he is making it next to impossible for the kids to be comfortable with it. My boyfriend vary rarly comes over for dinner with the kids in the last 15 months he has been over a hand ful of times which to me that is not alot. I jsut don't know what to do. I love this man I see a future with him however it is difficutl with the kids

I have a family that would rather throw the childs toys away then have to teach them how to pick them up or take care of them. At this time the children have no toys in their rooms. All they have is a tv and a playstation. I am looking for websites with specifics on the importance of toys on child development and the negative effects of throwing the toys away. The children are 6months, 4yrs and 7 yrs. I am deeply disturbed by the fact that these children are very deprived and dont have to be.

a cousin of mine is a single parent and in college. After years of working two FT jobs to support her three kids with no support from their father, and no family help she decieded to work as an escort . While not condoning her choice of employment she has gotten off gov help, paid off her debt, gotten straight a's, bought her first home, and rasing her children in a better and safe neighborhood and provideing them all the opportunity they need in life to become good citizens. While doing this kind of work she has been the perfect mother a child can hope for and since she can set her own hours she is always there for her children. On the other hand no one knows of her secret life but I am scared it will come back to haunt her one day or bite her in the butt. Would you suggest she quit this type of employment even though it has provided her with better opportunites in life.

growing the more i am noticing kids are being disrespectful and less willing to co-operate with others...to me it seems the punishments such as "spanking" and legit "groundings" are dissappearing. i do not have kid, but i am 20 and i notice that others kids around my age and younger are back talking parents, eye rolling, and other things of that nature...and yet parents do nothing to let them know they will not tolerate it. i have had my moments with being "bad", but i am also respectful to my parents and will not back talk them. i do not think "time outs" or "go to you rooms" work, because kids have all their stuff in their rooms. many parents don't want to see their kids cry, so they will let them get what they want, no questions asked. many kids do not take the time to understand things such as respect or hard work...does anyone else think that kids need to be put in their place?

I recently placed my son up for adoption in January and he was only 6 days old.He is going to a good home and family but I miss him soo much. I try to do other activities but I cant help but think that another woman will be calling my son hers and my son will be calling her mommy. I couldn't raise him because I am not ready to be a parent yet. I wanted my baby to have a better life and my family that is better off finacially. Also I wanted my baby to know what its like growing up with a father figure. His birth father didn't want to be a part of his life so that's another reason. My first question is: Did I make the right choice? Even if I couldn't afford to raise him should I just kept him so I wouldn't have to spend the rest of my life wondering about him. What they are doing at every moment

My seconds question for adoptees: Do you hate or despise your birth parents for giving you up and hate them that they gave you up?

If one signs it and it's the other's child, can that be fixed easily? How do I go about changing a child's last name once I find out the paternity of it? Do I have to give the biological's father's last name to collect child support?

There are many reasons in today's state of society to NOT leave your son unattended outside the washroom, and there are unavoidable moments where a public washroom must be used. However, I wonder until what age is this appropriate, and are other women and girls uncomfortable with this?

My son is 16 and he is a great kid. He is smart, charming and kind. On the flipside he is lazy. I mean really lazy in school and at home. What can I do to help him realize he needs to put it in gear and prepare for the future. It is hard for teens see the ramifications of the their attitudes and actions. Any new approaches will be appreciated.

My son is 2 (will be three in april), and i am running out of ideas for what to feed him at lunchtimes...it always seems to be sandwiches, a few pieces of fruit and a drink..then a packet of yougart covered raisins.

He doesnt seem to mind the same thing all the time, as he always eats it all, but i want to give him something else for a change!!

Any ideas??

I'm writing a feature about including grandparents/aunts/uncles in family life. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who may not have had the perfect relationship with their parents/siblings but made an effort anyway to include them in family life - with positive results. How did you overcome difficulties? What are the benefits to you/them/the kids?
