I took my step son in until he was around 7-8. I still take my son, he's 5. There's too many luney, sick people for me to even wait outside most of the time. I heard a story a couple of years ago about a 7 or 8 yr old boy who was killed in the park men's bathroom, while the mother waited by the door. The guy slashed his throat. It's just too crazy these days. I'm not offended if a child that age is in the women's restroom, but if a 10-11 year old walked in, I may raise an eyebrow. Depending on where it was too.

I am not sure of the right age, but I honestly think your child's safety is more important than a few uncomfortable women. I don't mind if a little boy of 7 or even 8 is in there. And if there is a boy in there a little older, I would think it was a little odd, but I'd understand, especially if the mother is just a little over protective. And I think other mothers will understand very well.

I'm sorry I just have to say I think you all are crazy. There is no way in this society today that I would let my 5-7 year old go into a bathroom by himself. If he is an older child, over 8 or 9, whatever...cover his eyes until he gets to the stall...I mean what the heck are girls doing that you can see in the ladies bathroom anyway??

I think this really depends on where you are. I know that I would never take offense to a mother bringing her son into the Ladies Room. It's not like we are running around naked in there. Also, you never know, just because a child looks too old to be there, he might just be big for his age, or maybe autistic or something and needs to be supervised.
A locker room is another story - I'd say 7 is the upper limit.

My son is 6 and depending upon where we are, I have and will make him come with me. If I dont have to use the bathroom I will send him in and wait for him, but if I have to go then he goes in too.
He is perfectly capeable of managing his restroom duties by himself. The ONLY reason I take him in with me is due to his saftey.
I am sorry if anyone is uncomfortable with that, but until I know he has the sence not to go with a stranger he will continue to go into the ladies room with me. I have never thought about what age I should stop that but my guess is that its coming up in the next couple of years.

it depends on where i am and how safe I feel the place is but usually around 8 years old only if brother is with him who is 11 otherwise I won't go to the bathroom I'll hold it and I don't like either of my kids going into the men's room alone so i rather they pee on the side of the building atleast i know some pervert isn't trying anything with them in the restroom. better to be safe then sorry.

about 7. try to use the family bathroom. most places either ahve them or will have them in the near future. if you go places that lack them, you might want to offer the suggestion to someone in managment
my parents split and my father used to stand outside the bathroom, find a woman who looked nice and ask her to keep an eye on me as he stood outside. it was a bit akward.
My aunt also has had similar issues with my cousin (male). she sent him into one bathroom at a bus station and she was worried about who might be in there (it was also in the middle of the night) and told him if anything happens to just scream and she'll run in there.

about 6 or 7 he should be going in the restroom by himself. just wait on the other side of the door. if he is in there too long, crack the door and call his name to check if he's okay.
i don't feel uncomfortable when a little boy is in the ladie's room. it's just a kid, you know?
