Philosophically, yes. Sadly, there are men and women out there having children they didn't want and possibly resent having. And often these people are in throes of addiction or mental illness, or just plain stupidity. Those that can rise above this, celebrating that joy a child bestowes and allowing it to change them and their lives are truly blessed, and better people for it.
Practically, not always. Sacrifices need to be weighed against possiblilty. I f it were possible for me to earn an income that would pay for everything and still have some left over, I'd insist my husband quits the business he is so miserable doing, stay home with our 2 yr. old, and focus on his music. Why should he sacrifce if it's Possible he doesn't have to? Likewise, the sacrfice in his own happiness (at work) is one he willingly endures to enable me to pursue my dream, and provide a stable, consistent and nurturing environment for our daughter.
Afterall, ideally it all balances out eventually.

Biblically, men are the head of the household and women are the heart. I believe, men should be the finanical providers for the household. Since the beginning of time men have been the hunters......(bringing home the bacon!!!) If a man doesn't want to do this he doesn't love his family.

all parents have a responsibility for loving and providing their kids with the things they need, and yes that often includes making sacrifices, at home, at work and socially.

I wish there were more men like you. Yes, it is the dad's and the mom's responsibility to do anything they have to to care for their children's needs, and most often that means making sacrifices.

It sounds to me that you feel torn between being their for your kids and trying to better your job prospects to do that, and to provide for them.....juggling these two things is not easy, but i suspect that whatever decision you make ISH, they will understand as long as your contact, your bond is never severed, never ceases they will understand i'm sure..... you can only do your best, and it seems you are on the right road already, don't be so hard on yourself.

Yes you do, it is part of being a good parent. If they need college funds, music lessons, etc. Sometimes we make a sacrafice, but as long as it doesn't drown you.
