and her dad has only spent limited time with her. Maybe he's seen her 4 times. I catch hell all the time with her. I try to feed her I get hell. I bathe her and I catch double hell it just gets worse. She screams during her baths all the time. He came over last saturday and he gave her a bath and she laughed and smiled in his face like he's around full time. I do everything by myself and the only time I get a smile is when I feed her. Why does this happen? It doesn't make sense? Why don't I get that treatment and I'm the only one taking care of her!!!

My two year old has been tube feed due to adversion to eating caused by severe reflux. Now that she is older she can eat just about anything the problem is getting her to eat and drink enough. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to get her to realize that you must eat and drink by mouth to survive? I don't know if I should stop tube feeding her for a couple of days to let her realize that tube feedings are not a fact of life.

I am 23 and my 25 yr old brother was in a horrible automobile accident last week, and he recently passed away in the hospital while I was holding onto his hands, his wife was killed instantly. It was a very sad moment because he had a newborn son that is just 2 weeks old and he was so proud he was a father, and he had just gotten married a year ago. I was in the hospital room visiting him and he told me he didn't think he was gonna make it, he started to cry and he asked me if I could be the role model, father, and dad of his new son. and I was speechless. we had never cried in front of eachother in about 8 yrs or so, needless to say that was a very sad moment. I sobbingly told him I would be honored to be the father figure for his son and that I would take good care of him. wow, this is starting to get to me...... anyways, I told him I was going to use the restroom real quick and when I came back, 4 doctors were in his room and I ran in and grabbed his hand and he gave me a faint

I'm really concerned in the big society fad of every behavioral problem being labeled as some sort of "disorder". Kids who used to be active or hyper are ADD or ADHD (or both), someone who has been through a lot is labeled PTSD, a child who used to be called strong-willed is now ODD.... does labelling your child with a DISORDER give him/her the wrong message - that there is something WRONG with them? I think most of these things are very normal and everyday part of life and growing up. Or, worse yet, are these disorders all a tag to excuse ill mannered children and allow them wreck havoc everywhere they go? That isn't a great answer either.... ....any helpful thoughts?

Or, what "skills" should the child be capable of before letting her do this all by herself? I mean, it is good as a parent to make sure that your kids know how to get themselves clean, hair is rinsed out, all parts scrubbed, water isn't too hot, etc. Any thoughts?

My son's friend is a terrible driver and has already gotten into a few accidents and has at least 1 speeding ticket -- that I know of! I don't want him driving my son around anymore because I think he's dangerous, but I know my son will flip out when I tell him this. What should I do?

My 17 year old daughter insists on wearing black clothes and dying her hair dark black. Her natural hair color is light brown and she used to dye it bleach blonde up until last year when she came home one day with dark black hair. I tried talking to her but she insists nothing is going on and that she simply just likes this goth-look. Her grades are good and she hasn't seemed to get into trouble, so should I be worried and do you think this is just a phase she's going through?

My son went to live with his mother for two years and now he lives with me again. I guess because he lived in Brooklyn for the past 2 years, he picked up the new york accent. For some reason it bothers me. Anyone know what i can do to make him stop, and start talking like we do in Ohio.

I have tried to talk to the dad about this and he won't listen. He tells me that I'm just imagining things. I have written a letter to the judges office asking for a hearing. My daughter has problems expressing herself. She has a mild case of Sturge Weber Syndrome. Which is why she's in Early Childhood. Funny thing is... She talks at home, but her dad says she barely talks there. My DD has known this woman and her kids for almost 2 years now. So they're not new to her. I just wanted to see what you all thought about this situation. And I can see that the majority of you are getting the same feeling I am. That something is NOT right in that house. She got her two oldest boys taken away for neglect. And were placed with her parents. I can't afford an attorney. The school counselor tried to get something out of her about her stepmom and she was unsuccessful. Guess the next step is a child psychologist.

I have a three year old dd,who has been going on overnight visits with her dad and his new wife of a year, and his step sons for over a year now.The court order says that he is supposed to pick her up.This is my dilemma. For the last four months,my daughter has not wanted to go on visitation.Cries whenever I mentioned any of their names.Well, now in the last month, she runs away from the stepmom goes up our stairs that leads to her bedroom saying "no no. Me no bye bye", and clings to me when she comes and picks her up.She gets a very depressed, anxiety rich look on her face, when she puts her in the van.She is fine going with her dad, and is happy to see him.The stepmom, forget it. She doesn't even want to look at her.I called the stepmom over the weekend and informed her that my daughter would only be going with her dad from now on.He works every weekend, so he only gets about 6 hours with her total for the weekend. She is perfect going to school, just not the stepmom What would you do

Is it rude to let my 9 year old son play with his friends in the common area of our condo? I have had 2 complaints from neighbors (both older, middle aged women with grown children) that the kids are too loud. Where do they expect kids to play? They are as loud as normal children are- not excessive. Is this my problem or theirs?

My son, the oldest, generally behaves and does what I ask the first time. My daughter, the 4 1/2 yr old is the one that usually ignores me. However, lately, he has started not listening as much either. I have tried going up to them and touching them to get their attention and then asking for whatever I want. Nothing seems to work except me asking a few times and then I usually end up yelling. Then they take me seriously and do it! I hate that! I am sooooo frustrated! Help!

I have an 8 year old and a 5 month old and stay at home. I do everything, EVERYTHING! I pick up after him, do all for the kids (bath, snacks, homework, feeding, etc), regular household chores, getting up with the kids in the morning and through the night with the baby, all of the cooking, and shopping. Should I expect my husband to do anything? I am not lazy and I keep a clean house, but when my husband is home should he pitch in, even if it's carrying laundry upstairs and picking up after himself? Also, should I have time off (a couple of hours to myself)?
