Every opportunity I get! My daughter is an exceptional person and I make sure she knows how proud I am of her. She's gone off to college now and I miss her, but I'm so proud of what she's made of herself that I get choked up sometimes just thinking about her.

As far as doing something special for her, I'm not exactly in a position to do much monetarily-wise, so I do what I can when she comes home for a visit. Whether it's cooking one of her favorite dinners, or renting a favorite movie...just talking.

Yes. I had to go through a couple of teenagers before I learned the value of that, though.

i am a teen, but my parents dont give a hoot about it. last week i spent over 3 hours making a meal (i want to be a chef so i do most of the cooking anyway) and my parents never even said "thank you" they are always complaning about some thing and they sit around the house doing nothing. us kids (my 2 brothers and sister and i) work like slaves for our parents. yet they do nothing but yell.

I tell my daughter that I am proud of her all of the time. We go to lunch once a month just to have Mom / daughter time and talk. I / we love it and we usually choose a different place to eat every month...

Of course. You do this for children at any age. I will do this when my daughter is a teenager.
