We currently receive £34 per week Working Tax Credit (we live in the UK). Thats just that basic "working couple on low income" rate, as far as I understand.

According to the good lady at the Citizens Advice Bureau, when our baby is born in December and we become "parents of a dependent child" this will go up quite a lot - we will apparently get child tax credit "alongside" Working Tax Credit and the amount of Child Tax Credit will be a lot more than £34.00. Plus it will be possible to claim for childcare expenses (we are low earners).

After being let down so many times by the benefits system when we have been "in need", this just seems too good to be true. Does anyone know what sort of tax credits a low earning couple with one baby can expect to get? I just can't beleive what the lady at Citizens Advice told me!!! Surely they aren't that generous!

As a full-time working-mom, my days goes asa follows:

wake at 5am to feed 3.5 month old (breastfed).
5:30 cook breakfast for husband, 3 year old son, and self.
6 start getting dressed & ready my self (drink my one cup of coffee)
6:30 wash dished from previous night & start setting out items for supper and getting lunches & snack together for the day
7 wake 3 year & get him ready for daycare
7:30 leave for work
7:50 drop kids off & feed 3.5 month old again before leave for work
8:30 get to work and stay until 5:30
5:30 go get boys and head home
6:15 get home & feed 3.5 month old
6:30 cook supper & wash dishes from lunch & breakfast
7:30-8 eat supper, get baths, set out outfits for next day & do laundry
9:30 put oldest to bed, get my shower & go to bed
youngest gets up at 12ish & 5ish for feeding
and this is where I start it all over again.

What do your days usually endure?
Do you get time for yourself? What do you do?

I'm new to this yahoo answers, but I thought maybe you could help me. Please, this is my last resort so can you give helpful answers??

My 15 year old son just recently got suspended for .. a whole bunch of things, can't even count. THis is his second suspension, and only 2 months of school passed!! I've tried everything, my husband and I have talked to him, he's talked to guidance counselors, and on. I think I give him enough space, he's allowed to go out sometimes, and has a lot of freedom. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or why he's like this?? HElp, I believe I really tried everything and I don't want him causing any more trouble than he's already caused.

Thankfully the second seat I purchased in one day keeps my grandson securely restrained.
I drove to another mothercare today said i had brought this seat and that my grandchild able to get his arms out within 20 minutes of purchasing it, the lady came out to the car as soon as i opened the door she said that strap should not be twisted when i said it's the way the store fitted it, i told her the chap tried several seats before saying this one was ok, she told me to take it back it's not right for my car. I then took out my receipt and said i have brought it back she was a bit shocked. So much for Mothercare fitters and child safety.
Please don't be so quick to blame the parent/grandparent by saying the straps were not tight enough I did every thing the chap told me to do, Maxi Cosi Tobi £169.99 2 fingers at the shoulder, the strap has a green arrow, when pulled as tight as it can go the green arrow tells you it is fitted correctly. All the was done.

Me and my husband are planning on having kids in the future. Not any time soon, within the next few years or so. However, we do talk about what method we're going to use as discipline when we do have kids. My husband believes in spanking because his parents' spaked him when he was a child but I am COMPLETELY against it, and my parents never used it on me or any of my siblings. How can me and my husband compromise on this? I don't want to hear people tell me, you should spank yuor kids, it's good for them, because no matter what anyone says, I will never be okay with it. I am firm in my beliefs, but is there a way that me and him can both be happy? If not, how do I convince him that I'm not down with it?

My son is a disgrace.

He is sixteen years old.

He is a homosexual or claims to be.

He has premarital sex with men.

He is disrespectful of Jesus, our heavenly saviour.

Even though he is a good boy, getting good grades and such, I refuse to have a homosexual living in my home.

How can I legally kick him out of my house?

He has a job and can support himself.

Me and my b/f are going crazy!! She does this everyday. My daughter is eating stage 2 & 3 foods. She seems to favor fruits more than veggies but I'm trying to get her out of that because I don't want her having poor eating habits. She needs her vegetables. Anyway when I start to feed her her dinner, she will eat it just fine. After eating 25-50% of the food, she will start whining or crying. We don't understand why. If the food was nasty, she wouldn't start eating it in the first place so why start crying after halfway finishing her food? Is this her way of saying "okay I'm tired of eating this, I'm ready for my dessert/fruit now!" Because when I switch to give her fruit/dessert, she stops crying. I'm getting tired of this, she needs more veggies and the like. She even does this when I feed her chicken dinners. Anyone else has ideas on why she cries in the middle of her feeding? She does this no matter what I feed her, but doesn't whine or cry when feeding her fruits.

My husbands parents are both alcoholics. We live 1400 miles away but are planning a 3 week trip back in December. They keep asking to watch the kids while we are there. I don't feel comfortable having my kids around them with me right there. How can I set boundaries with them? I have asked them not to drink around my children, but they continue to do so. Not seeing them is out of the question, because it is very important to my husband. What can I tell them, what do I do? I don't really want to offend them, I am at a loss and very worried. My girls are 8 years old and 5 months old!

He is here a few times a week and everyother weekend. Yesterday, after bullying his younger brother he kicked his brothers homework project (destroying it) punched the dor, went outside and threw stuff. He says it was because he was so upset that we were "lying" about what he did to his brother. But we watched him put his hand on his neck and squeeze hard( he learned that from his dad) and put his fist in his face and threaten him.My husband didn't kow what to do so he grabbed the younger two boys and left. He was trying to keep them safe. Now my husband refuses to watch him, his dad believes him.Apparently he doesnt' act like that at his dads house. At his dads house his step sister and him are the same age. I think she'd kill him. This is how his dad acted when we were married. How so I stop it, i cant ground him,if I send him to his room he destroys it.What do I do?How do I keep my younger two safe?Ihave no support from hsi dad.I need serious anwsers I am so upset by this.

My boyfriend asked me to post this question. He found a double dvd case outside the other morning and inside it was marijuana and ... I don't know what it is called... "something to smoke it with". He was very upset especially when he learned that it belonged to his 17 year old son. His son admitted that it was his. He refused to say how long he has been doing it. He lived with his dad until he started high school and then decided he wanted to live with his mom. She is more lax when it comes to rules but, a good mama. He thinks the solution is to have him move back with him but doesn't know if that is the right solution. This is his son's senior year and he fears his son will rebel more if the move is made. He wants what is best for his son and doesn't quite know how to handle the situation. If you've been in a similar situation please help him/us know what to do. He is a good kid. We don't want him headed down a path of doom. Thanks for your sincere answers.

I love my car but it's already getting small just with our black lab taking up the whole back seat. I would like a minivan, hubby likes wagons. Anyone have an experiences in this area? Thanks! :)

Apparently they dissected frogs at school last week and he somehow managed to bring home the scalpel. My son swears Muffy was already dead when he got home from school yesterday, but she seemed fine when I left for work in the morning. I also am nervous about the way he's been eyeing his little sister lately. Is this normal behavior for boys his age?
