MY boys (ages 17 & 16) get NOTHING for an allowance. i expect them to do dishes every other night and do one load of laundry every other night. i also expect them to keep their rooms tidy FOR FREE! OH, and one mows the lawn and one is in charge of daily trash removal! AGAIN, FOR FREE.

i feel that I DO so many things for them on a daily basis that they owe those things to me out of appreciation!

IF my boys want extra money they can GET A JOB. suggestion for you: GET A JOB

She is old enough to get a job. My parents stopped paying us for chores at about fourteen. We lived in Germany and legally could have jobs. I think since she is capable of getting employment else where the allowance should be cut off. If she does extra work on the side for you...that's a different thing. Maybe let her deep clean something or get the house spotless for money. Best of luck!

depends on how well they do their chores, how responsible they are with the money, how many things their parents expect them to buy with their allowance, and how much money to parents make. It also depends on their age. A thirteen year old doesn't need as much as a 17 year old.

If my daughter at 13, say, doesn't blow it on stupid stuff, I would let her have about $25 per week or so, but I would still buy her clothes, school supplies and trips and activities, and if she needed any extra for a good reason, I would give it to her.

If they are not happy with how much you give them, they can get a job. Parents don't OWE teens allowance.

Depends on how much they help out at home. If they don't do chores, don't keep their grades up, ect then they shouldn't get paid squat. If they help and are getting good grades and being well behaved then I'd say maybe $10-15 bucks a week.

We give our daughter a dollar for every task that she accomplishes.... Feed the animals - $1... Empty the Dishwasher - $1... Sweep and Mop the kitchen Floor - $1...etc.

Depending on her ambition she makes anywhere between $13 to over $50 per month... Then I transfer it into her savings account so she is more apt to save most of it than spend it.

Nothing. Your contributions to the household chores should be expected as you doing your part to help keep the household running. Does your mother charge you to fix your dinner or do your laundry or let you use her car? Get a babysitting job.

Well, I got .50 cents when I was a teen until I reached 16 and began working after school. My two girls recieved 5.00 a week for various jobs around the house and when they reached 16 they started working. My husband and I bought really cheap cars for them but they had to pay the insurance, put gas in the cars, and maintain them to the best of their ability.

well my son is 10 he has a long road ahead of him he has his own chores to do around the house. if he has to be asked to get them done or dont get them done then no allowance for that day. if he gets any D'S or F's on his progress reports or report cards no allowance until the next reports comes in. so its really up to him to learn how to earn his own money. here while back he ask me dad how can i make some money lol just like a typical kid huh? once he reaches the age 16 i expect for him to be there for his mother when she needs his help because the job i have keeps me away from my family as it is. but i also expect for him to have a job & learn to support himself for food, gas, books, ect. thats why its very important to start them out very young. but if your teen is receiving any kind of allowances he/she i think its a good idea to have him/her to try & explore part---time job opportunities. they will soon learn very quickly that it takes a lot of time & effort to earn the money needed for their latest. make it clear that your teens are responsible for their poor money decisions, & discuss the consequences in advance as well. for an example if your teens belong to any music club discuss the late payments & i'm sure there will be some. expect your teens to get into some financial trouble we parents have been there & done that many of times. thats why its very important for all parents to teach their kids to manage their money very wisely.

Since she does chores and household cleaning of course she should get something for it. i would say no more than $20. I mean a simple thank you should do but teenagers love spending money better you give it to them then them go steal it from somewhere else.

Depends on how old they are, what chores they do, how wealthy you are and how much they need to pay for the items the allowance is meant to cover. Ask his/her friends' parents what they give.
