Working at a store in the mall. Bagging groceries for tips. Part-time after school so that they can still have time for friends and homework. Something that interests them. Something where they can get promotions often and stay interested in. Preferably something within the profession they would like to pursue.

I'd have them find something they're interested in and look for a job that would let them work with something they like. Work should be fun, at least when you're 16, and not just a place to go to make money. A dog lover could find a job walking dogs, a person who loves kids would do well babysitting or helping out at a daycare/preschool for example. Good luck!

Fast food, retail, extra help at a daycare, babysitting for extra money. Go with what your interests are and what you're looking for in a job. Do you want to be on your feet all day serving hamburgers or do you want a nice quiet job helping customers at a clothing store?

Babysitting, Newspaper delivery, carry out (courtesey clerk) in a grocery store, yard work, especially for the elderly, dog walker, house"sitter" where you pick up their newspapers and mail in order for it to look like someone is actually home when a family is on vacation. Door to door car wash, or "pet wash".
