Me and my b/f are going crazy!! She does this everyday. My daughter is eating stage 2 & 3 foods. She seems to favor fruits more than veggies but I'm trying to get her out of that because I don't want her having poor eating habits. She needs her vegetables. Anyway when I start to feed her her dinner, she will eat it just fine. After eating 25-50% of the food, she will start whining or crying. We don't understand why. If the food was nasty, she wouldn't start eating it in the first place so why start crying after halfway finishing her food? Is this her way of saying "okay I'm tired of eating this, I'm ready for my dessert/fruit now!" Because when I switch to give her fruit/dessert, she stops crying. I'm getting tired of this, she needs more veggies and the like. She even does this when I feed her chicken dinners. Anyone else has ideas on why she cries in the middle of her feeding? She does this no matter what I feed her, but doesn't whine or cry when feeding her fruits.

Have you tried giving her some very well cooked pieces of veggies to eat as finger foods? At 11 months old she should be able to eat them no problem. Try, well cooled and cooked carrots, potatoes, green beans, broccoli and if she has teeth and you think she will chew well you can try peas, corn, lima beans. I had the exact same problem until I started providing some table food on her tray which kept her busy as I fed her...Eventually she got really good at feeding herself and I no longer had to give her jar food.

You might have more luck getting her to eat veggies if you give real vegetables like green beans and let her pick them up and eat them. Carrots are good for that kind of eating also. Just cook some and let cool and let her have them. Fruits and veggies are pretty much interchangeable so dont worry too much. Maybe it would help if you didnt look at fruit as a dessert since it isnt actually a dessert but the same as veggies part of the meal.

My guess would be 1 of 2 things....either she is getting full and doesn't want anymore OR more likely.....she is teething and it probably starts to hurt her gums after a bit of mashing.

If she eats her desert fine after fussing and crying then you have a smart little one that is sick of her other food and wants her desert. :) As long as she eats about 1/2 a jar of each (dinner and desert) I wouldn't worry. Fruit is a healthy desert.

I think all kids favor fruits over veggies. It is a constant battle that never really ends. Get all you can into her and be happy with that.

She's probably being overfed. If she's crying in the middle of a feeding you need to stop feeding her. Doctors recommend to follow the baby's cues and if she's crying then stop feeding her.

She's teething, fruits are softer than veggies.

its probably hurtin her stomach.... at 11 months old, she still needs to be on the bottle for a little while longer, its softer on the stomach..... talk to your doctor, something you are giving her isnt cooperating with her stomach and shes letting you know about it..

Just being a baby. Don't rush her into less mushy foods. Chances are, when she whines, she's had enough.
