I think it's important not to give in to stereotypes and to move beyond the bigotry of generations past.
Why shouldn't children play with wild bears? Why can't bear and human kind live together in harmony?
Should the mauling that a few wayward bears decide to engage in really dissuade us from getting to know our fellow mammalian occupants of this great land? I say nay.
Teach your children to embrace those wild bears as their brethren and we will move one step closer to a world where there is no human/bear distinction.

Yes, of course. This world is survival of the fittest, if the kids can handle wild bears they are fitter than most.

As long as one of them is wearing a vest and a hat and advising them not to start forest fires, that's cool.
