I say each child is different and master each skill at different times.Evaluate your child on each skill needed for bathing then decide what need to be worked on.Each bath time monitor the skills and give direction until you know for sure what he/she is capable of doing correctly and safely.Never leave a child unattended.

My oldest is 8 and it's been about a year since we started letting her do it. I still occassionally check her hair and start the water, but for the most part, she bathes alone. My youngest is 4 and we let her do it alone once in a while, but for the most part we do all the cleaning. We don't let her run the water though, for fear she'll get burnt. We also made sure they could swim before leaving them alone in the tub. It's hard call. It really depends on the maturity of the child and how comfortable you are.

I'd say when they're big enough to shower you could leave them alone. While there in the bath after the age of 5 tell them to scrub themselves etc. But stay close and check on them otherwise they'll just splash water all over the floor and just play. Good luck.

i wouldn't let them bath by them self until they was 7. befor that i would check on them and leave the door open.
i would say when they are old enough to know how to wash their hair ( ok you may still have to rinse it out for them ) and know when to turn off the water when the tub is full.
my youngest is 7 and and i still go and check on her. i just say i need to get something really quick and take a peek so it don't seem i am treating her like a baby.

when your child can do all those things by themselves. if they are still having trouble getting all the soap out it isn't time. But if you mean like your son takin a bath with you - once they start pointin out the diff. and askin questions is just 1 min too late and it should be stopped, but some simple answers should be given why he can't take a bath with mommy any more!!!

I'm going with 6 or 7. It's really hard to get all the soap out of their hair. I think that you might still have to check and make sure the soap is out of their hair. My son is three so I haven't come across this problem yet.

you certainly did not overreact. My nephew is 4 and that i nevertheless sit down on the lavatory mutually as he's enjoying. He can not swim and it is totally a threat to drown in the tub! i think of i replaced into approximately 7 or 8 whilst i replaced into allowed to bathe on my own. i think of i will enable my babies bathe on their very own around 6 years previous.

Depends on the child....If the child is able to do small things for his or herself...then you have no need to be there constantly...of course they need to be able to sit up unaided...and the normal safe stuff..i think 3-4yr is good....you can always help clean and show them then leave the bathroom so they my enjoy the bath experience alone....I use to wash my girls and leave em to it after...they soon took over for them selves....teach with face-washers and liduid pump action washes....

Well, I still turn the shower on for my son on occasion and check that he got all the soap out of his hair, he's 10. It all depends on the kid. You'll know when they have the necessary skills.
