When I had my son I wanted to breastfeed him. The minute he was born a bottle was stuck in his mouth and he was basically taken away for the night. The next morning a lactation consultant came and spent about an hour trying to get him latched on. After that, she never came back. I was poorly educated about breastfeeding and I didn't end up doing it.

With much more information and knowledge on breastfeeding I now realize the things I should've done differently. I'm determined to breastfeed my next newborn.

However, I have immense guilt and concern over my relationship with my son. I really worry that he will know that he wasn't breastfed and wonder why. I know it sounds silly but that's the way I feel. How do I get over it? For moms who have formula-fed one child and breastfed the others--was there a difference? Are there anyways my son and I can bond more even though I did not breastfeed him? We’re very close but I worry that somehow the second baby will have more attachment! Thanks!

How long should I wait before traveling out of state by car with my newborn? I am in the middle of moving and will wait if I need to, but plan to go ahead and leave after discharge if safe.

My daughter is 11 months old and has always been a great sleeper, she sleeps around 12 hours an night without waking, and up until recently made no fuss about going to bed, I've always put her down awake and she puts herself to sleep.
But the last 4 nights, when I put her in her cot, she starts screaming and crying, and really gets herself into a state. I tried just leaving her to it last night, but she cried on and off for half an hour so I went in, calmed her down and cuddled her then put her down again, that time she cried for about 15 mins then went to sleep.
Its really breaking my heart hearing her cry like that, and the strange thing is, she doesn't do it during her daytime naps, they're not a problem at all.
Has anyone else had this happen? Any advice?
Thanks in advance, and sorry about the long question!

Im a new mommy and have many questions! I delivered my baby August 22 and before I was discharged from the hospital I was told that my baby needs to go to a peditrician to get a hearing test, which is done again at one week after they are born. My husband has United Health Care which is the insurance that I used at the hospital, but Im confused because I dont know if my baby is also covered or not? Is she automatically added on after she was born? Or do I have to call to add her? Sorry for my ignorance, please help!

This woman at my job told me that I had a huge baby when he was born. I was so shocked that she said that, cause I don't think he was big at all, in fact he wore a premie size and was so tiny to me. He has grown a lot since he was born and is in the 90th percentile now, but he was 6 lbs 13 oz when he was born. Do you think this is big in your opinion?

It really hurt me cause she was making me feel like my baby was so huge when he was born and I just don't understand why she said that even after I told her his weight. My friend had a baby and it was over 9 pounds, so I think if my baby was "so huge" as she says, then what would beb baby be?

Is she full of it or just jealous? What is her problem?

P.S. She doesn't like me either and is snobby and rude to me everyday, ever since she started working even though I was the first person to greet her. What should I do about this woman and her attitude?

This is to all married (or not) women out there. I have two children and my husband's sister has two children also. My mother-in-law is CONSTANTLY critisizing, and my sister-in-law also, every little thing I do, because I don't do it the way they do it. These two are the most negative people I have ever met. My mother-in-law thinks that her daughter is the BEST, and somethimes compares me to her saying, well "she" does it this way.............My father-in-law never comes over to see my kids...who live 10 minutes away, but he'll drive 45 minutes to see his daughters kids. I am so tired of being treated like an outsider. I have been in this family for almost 20 years and I have always taken the crap to keep the peace for my husbands sake. Should I cut them out of our life and speak up for myself???? Should my kids have to pay the price? talking to them about it will only create hard feelings. My mother in law likes to criticize, but if it's done to her, she gets pissy. Need some advice.

I'm 21 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. He's my husband and my first baby. We're very excited. Sometimes I just look at my sonogram in awe. I cant believe he's really in there. I've bonded with him already. I feel like his movements are his way of communicating with me. I can't wait to hold him in my arms and watch him grow and learn. I don't think my feelings are abnormal but i was just wondering if there are any one else out there experiencing the same thing.

i am due in november with our first baby and its a boy!!! yaya!!!!
the problem im finding is clothing. there just doesnt seem to be a good or even a big selection of clothes for baby boy's. ive only been able to find onsies for boy's but no outfits or even pants. its getting really frusterating. im having 2 baby showers comming up, and i know ill probably get clothes there, but im not relying on gifts. i want to be prepared in case i dont get anything.
ive tried target, walmart even regular dept. stores like sears or jc penny's and there still doesnt seem to be any selection. if there is its all blue or sports. i dont mind blue or sports, but we are doing his room in a teddy bear sports theme, and i want him to wear a varity of colors, and prints.
if you have a boy, did you run into this problem?
anyone know of store with a good selection of baby boys clothes?
oh, im from california (central valley) grrrr. its getting a little frusterating!

my 6 month old son has had a cold going on 3 wks now. He has been fine during the days but waking 2-3 times a night (he used to sleep through the night) He never developed a fever so the doctors office said they didn't need to see him and it will go away on it's own. Last night he was very congested sounding and woke up and it took 2 hrs for him to fall back asleep only to wake up 1/2 hr later again. I have a vaporizor in his room, I have been using saline nose spray and aspirating his nose, and have raised the head of the bed but now not even these are working. During his naps today, he wouldn't lye down he would start screaming until I picked him up and would fall asleep. How long does a cold usually last in a baby? Is there anything else I can do to help? I suctioned some yellow mucous from his nose and when I called the doctors office the nurse said that it was not a sign that it's getting worse, it's probably that its been sitting in his nose for a while.
