i am due in november with our first baby and its a boy!!! yaya!!!!
the problem im finding is clothing. there just doesnt seem to be a good or even a big selection of clothes for baby boy's. ive only been able to find onsies for boy's but no outfits or even pants. its getting really frusterating. im having 2 baby showers comming up, and i know ill probably get clothes there, but im not relying on gifts. i want to be prepared in case i dont get anything.
ive tried target, walmart even regular dept. stores like sears or jc penny's and there still doesnt seem to be any selection. if there is its all blue or sports. i dont mind blue or sports, but we are doing his room in a teddy bear sports theme, and i want him to wear a varity of colors, and prints.
if you have a boy, did you run into this problem?
anyone know of store with a good selection of baby boys clothes?
oh, im from california (central valley) grrrr. its getting a little frusterating!

With two showers coming up, do NOT buy anything until you get through those showers--EVERYONE will give you clothes and diapers. It's amazing.
Also--you'll probably not need a huge selection of clothes RIGHT now. We shopped around at discount stores like Burlington Coat Factory and Gordman's, but also ask around if anyone has had a son and would mind sharing a few clothes.
But like a I said--don't go ga ga over the clothes just yet and remember that sometimes you'll be using the clothes just a few times before he outgrows them.
Plus buying now causes some problems in that it's still hot, and while it won't get TOO cold in California, the clothes will change slightly for winter.

I have boys and a girl and shopping for her was SOOOOOOO much easier. Baby Gap, Baby's r Us, Carter's Gymboree all have nice stuff, the selection is limited but they do a good job of coordinating so with the pieces you can buy you can put together several ensambles. The DIsney store has some cute baby clothes and sleepers too. Also target is ok for onesies and necessities and sleepers. Also, (this might seem kind of tacky, but at the rate babies outgrow clothes we found justifiction for it) go to garage sales, we stuck to nicer areas, and were very concious of who we were buying from, but garage sales offer in many cases better selections than stores and you can find great brands for almost nothing. Like I said it took us some time to get used to the idea but, it really worked out well and we found some really, really adorable outfits. I hope this helps. Take care and good luck!

I have 2 boys, and while I do admit that the girl department in every store is way better, I am still able to find clothing. Just look in my closets to confirm that there are a ton of adorable baby boy things out there. I shop in J.C. Penny's The Childrens Place, Baby Gap, Gymboree, Macy's.. Also I have found outfits in Walmart but there selection really does suck!! Try looking at online shops like Hanna Anderson or Baby Style, they have beautiful stuff and the clothes are super soft. I love them. Good luck!!!

I've got a 4 year old son and I had htat problem ...you get to teh store and htere are tons of pretty little girl things and hardly any little boys things...I know what you mean...I'm having baby #2 in November as well
and I'm having the same problem again...
I shop CARTER and OLD NAVY alot BABY GAP for sale items.... oh and GYMBOREE
the one thing I like is one spring and summer roll around you can get the little one piece rompers for little boys , they are so easy to put on them and you can fit an extra outfit or two in the smallest diaper bag...
maybe other pregnant moms could help you?? find out at www.i-am-pregnant.com I love this site since I've gotten pregnant all the ladies are helpful ... ok best of luck and congrats!

Congratulations!!
I agree that you should not buy any clothing (unless it's super cute, which apparently you haven't been able to find) until after the shower.
Try Amazon.com
Not sure of the November weather in central valley, but I'm going to assume it's a bit chilly. It would make your life very easy to stock up on the gown type outfits for the first month or two, because you'll most likely be keeping him inside most of the time, right? They're so easy for dressing and diapering.

Hi, congratulations on your baby boy! Check out Gymboree. They have adorable boys clothes! Check online at other baby clothing stores. Here's a little advice......don't by lots of 0-3 months clothes or Newborn. They only wear those sizes for a second and that seems to be the only size people buy you for gifts. Seriously, I'm not kidding. I did run into this problem with my 12 year old son. No CUTE clothes for boys! Gymboree is great though, if it's too expensive check out eBay for Gymboree clothes. Good luck!

I don't have any idea where central valley, California is but if there is a Baby Gap or an Old Navy near you they both have great clothes for baby boys. I just had mine eight weeks ago and the majority of his clothes came from one or the other. He wears all kinds of colors with lots of different patterns.

Yes!!! I had the same problem. I don't like the traditional baby blues, not to mention most baby boy clothes have sports, trucks or bug themes! I do a lot of my shopping online. You can even register for a baby shower at most online stores. I love www.pacifieronline.com and www.pokkadots.com

You can try to find a local Once Upon A Child store or something similiar. My best friend has a son who just turned 1 and we got a lot of his clothes from there as they are new or "gently used" clothing and for much cheaper than you would find in stores which also comes in handy when they are so young as they grow so fast most times they only get to wear an outfit once or twice before it doesn't fit them anymore.
