my husband wants to put are 6 month old in front of the tv every morning and i have tried telling him that a 6 month old does not need to be watching tv at this age. infact i told him that no baby or kid should be in front of the tv until they are near there 2nd birthday.

he thinks because they have shows like arthur and barney and all other shows for children that are 6 month old can watch them.

iv tried to tell him that this is not good fro his development but he just got mad at me and walked out of the room. how can i tell him that tv is not for babies.

My daughter is a year old and sometimes she leaks in her diaper. (which I understand is usual) But today her urine smelled like amonia! it was so bad it was like cat liter was dumped on her. Why would it smell like that? She went to bed at 7:45 and woke up today at 7a.m. It just smelled so bad today. I give her 8oz of milk when she wakes up. 3 juice or water cups 6oz each and milk at all her meals and then 8oz of milk at bed time again. (i think i give her enough through out the day.) Could this be an infection. has this happend to anyone before?

I used a hand held Avent pump for my son, but seeings as I'll have a 3 year old as well as a newborn I thought I'd look in to an electric pump. They are very expensive, so I wondered about hiring services. Has anyone had an experience with this to give me some direction?

So today I kept smelling this odd odor on me and finally i realized it was my breast pad. So i smelled it and it had a foul odor both of them. I smelled a pad that hadnt been used and no odor so the conclusion is its my milk that smells bad. Is it possible that something is wrong with my milk? My daughter has been more gassy then ever tonite and thats the only thing i can think of. I dont know if i should not breastfeed her and give her formula?? Im lost but shes very cranky and what seems to be gassy......

Is it important for a baby to learn to crawl in the typical manner (butt in air), or is it just a means to get around and eventually learn to walk?

i put him on formula from 5 days old because of personal reasons and he has had alot of trouble digesting formula and as been constipated for 2 months. The doctors gave me coloxyl but it didn't help so i went back and he has put him on a easy to digest formula to see if that helps. Anyway i have felt guilty ever since i stopped b/feeding and really regret my decision and want to relactate ever though i only did it for 5 days. He latches on some times but i'm ok with putting it into a bottle once my milk comes in. Has anyone done this and it has worked and how long did it take to see that it was working and how long did it take to fully lactate. I am going holidays in 4 weeks and the drive is 10 hours so i would like to be lactating then as it would make the trip easier. I have a 2 1/2 year old as well so i dont have alot of spare time but i'm willing to give this a go because i know it's best. I'm also taking fenugreek (for the past 4 days).

How did others react to your decision? Not strangers, but family, friends, your pediatrician, etc? My daughter is almost 4 months and I plan to breastfeed her past the 12 month mark, and just mentioning it to some people has led to some awkward moments. Hubby has come around to the idea, but some other people I have mentioned it to acted like I'm crazy. My aunt (who is a nurse, for goodness' sake!) got very weird when it came up, and was very firm on the fact that she thinks I should stop at 12 months. I'm just wondering how other moms handled the negative reactions!

I want to breastfeed,
but i will have to return to work after
2-3 months after hes born
and i will also be returning to school
winter classes start around dec-jan.
I think i will be too busy and too tired
when i am not busy to try and pump
because i heard it takes up a lot of time
and i would have to try and pump at work
and etc, and at my job its not possible
we only get two 15 min. breaks

Should i breastfeed and then try and wean him off a couple weeks before i return to work and school. Or should i just give him formula to start, i want to give him good breatmilk and nutrition because i know thats what i need to do as a mother, but at the same time i dont want it to be a struggle for us when it comes time to go back to work.

Also, i have no idea as far as bottles to go for, weither i decide to pump last minute or formula, is there bottles that i can use for both? just get different nipples, even tho i want to breastfeed at first,

My daughter got her shots yesterday and has since been running a fever. I have been keeping it under control with tylenol. ( I talked to my child's doctor about it first though).... However, this evening she has become dehydrated a little bit (and her soft spot has sunk).. I called the doctor about it a little while ago, and they told me to get some pedialyte. When I did the dosage on the bottle does not have it for a baby that young. My doctors office has already closed for the weekend, so I thought I would ask you what you all thought. I was guessing like 1-2 oz. every 4 hours or so, on top of her regular feedings... But I am not totally sure that if that is too much or not enough... Thank You.....

Whenever I feed my 4 month old baby banana or apple baby food, she gets a facial rash, and today I saw she had little tiny red bumps all over her torso after eating apple baby food. Is it b/c of the potassium? If I feed her 1/2 the jar, she's fine but if I feed her the whole jar, she gets a rash. There are no other symptoms, and she doesn't seem to be sick. She does fine with pear baby food & vegetable baby food. I know to ask my baby's doctor, and I am going to the next time I see him. I was just wondering if anyone else had this experience and what caused it? Thanks.

I mean I know what's its for, but everytime I put my 3 month old on his tummy, he j ust lays there. I know he has a lot of strength in his back and neck so I'm not worried about it, But he kind of just lays there with his head on the floor and stares at the TV. He doesn't move or anything. I usually hear that babies hate tummy time but my newbron seems to like just laying on his stomach and not move. How can I get him to move around and stuff?

My baby is 15 days old now. I had her at 35 weeks 6 days of pregnancy. She weighed 5 lbs. 6 oz. Immediately after birth she had trouble breathing and had to be transported to a hospital 30 miles away in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). She's home now and eating and breathing fine. She now weighs 6 lbs. 3 oz. Share your experiences with me.

What do I do? I mean this needs to be known. I know they will deny the possbility- well they did, anyway a lawsuit sure would bring it public. Money would be helpful to anyone but I don't have to have it, I am not trying to scam. They can keep the money or give it to charity.I want them outed. with out the heat the issue would never be addressed. I am already a huge phobic, bacteria, germs, dust...have days i can't go outside. Laundry hits the floor I have to wash it again. I am the last person that needed to find such a thing; I already had issues with formula anyway. Help...what or who is the best way to expose them?!!!

in order to switch him from his "carrier" to a rear-facing carseat(without a base, or one that stays in the car, continuously) Just wondering. I've been told different answers. I know I will ask my doctor before I decided anything but, I just wanted to know some opinions of other mom's/people out there. :)

How do I switch from soy infant formula back to cow's milk formula without upsetting my son's stomach? The reason I switched to soy was because i felt it might be easier on his tummy because he was so gassy. He's older now 3 months and I think it would be better if he were on cow's milk formula. He has been on soy for about a month and I was wondering if there was a need to ease him back into cow's milk or can I just make the switch?
