Have any of you had a premature baby and the baby survived? If so, how early was your baby born?

I have a question about Hyland's teething tablets. My son is teething real bad and someone recommended hylands. I was just wondering will the tablets still work if I dont' get the tablets exactly under the tounge? My baby is 5 months and its very hard to get the tablets under the tounge. They often end up either in his jaw or on the tounge. Will they still work?

I just brought my daughter home from the hospital, she was born Monday night. The doc said her biliruben was too high so she would be on light therapy. she hates being under the lights and crys untill I take her out. I know I need to leave her so she will get better, but that is so hard. Any advice on how to cope with this from someone who has been there?

the little girl i babysit Ava, just turned one maybe a month ago. shes kinda chubby, and anyway, today was mine and the kids "bonding day" with their mother, so we could get to know eachother better, and the mother fed Ava (not her daughter, belongs to one of her friends) a vanilla milkshake and a peanut butter and strawberrry/grape jelly uncrustables sandwich for lunch. i was very nervous because i thought she could have a reaction. it was her first pb&j sandwich, and her first milkshake.

a while after, maybe 5 minutes, she was on a sugar buzz, screaming, bouncing, etc, adorable, but made me scared that she would crash later tonight,

what is the window for allergic reactions, what do i need to look for when i go over in a little while when i watch her, to make sure she dosnt have an allergic reaction of some sort.

help! im so worried about her! whats the time window for a reaction?

my mother in law said she thought it would be better to allow the child to make such a decision on their own. i had my ears pierced when i was an infant & think it is ok to do it @ 4mos of age. i feel differently about boys though.

So here's the deal. I am trying to plan a baby shower for my sister who is due on the 26th of this month. I am trying to plan the baby shower for the 8th (in 2 weeks). Yes, I do know that I should have planned the baby shower for an earlier date, as this date is close to her due date. But I live a couple hours away from my sister and time and money has not allowed me to be able to get to where she lives any earlier.
Etiquette wise, I know that baby shower invites should be sent 3-4 weeks in advance, but I am going to try to pull it off in two weeks. Should I put notes in the invitations aplogizing for the shower being last minute or just send the invites and not worry about the extra notes.

My son has an overwhelming interest in tv. If the tv is on, he is watching it. Sometimes he will look away from it to play with the toys on his matt, but the tv is of more interest most of the time. I have found that if I want to get his full attention for a period of time, I have to turn the tv off.
This is a plus at times because I am a single mom and it keeps his interest when I need to do a few chores, but I was just wondering if there are any adverse effects from it?
Should I let him watch it when he wants? He gets alot of attention from myself and his mammaw and pappaw while I am at work, so he isnt without human stimulation, but I dont want to do anything that will harm him later on.
Is this normal at his age?
And, have there been any adverse effects noted to tv watching in kids such as autism?
Thanks to anyone with any good or bad info on this subject.

the dr. suggested to try formula only for a couple of days because she said that breast milk has lactose and that might be the problem. i did try it and it made a big difference with the gas. i don't really want to stop breastfeeding for the simple fact that it took us about three weeks to latch on so i'm really happy that we succeded does anyone have any advice? I know that breastfeeding is better than formula so what should I do, I don't want him suffer either

A little early for this, but I need to get things in order.
My son's first birthday is December 21st. Along with all the Christmas preparations and parties, we also have a slew of other kids' birthdays in the family, as well as another niece's first birthday on December 26th. Usually all the kids' birthdays are lumped together and acknowledged during the family Christmas party. What I'm wondering is, would it be unreasonable to do a separate party this year since it is his first birthday (I've even thought of a joint first birthday party with my son and my niece if they're of the same mind), or should I just have his birthday in with the others? I know he won't know the difference; I just want it to be special.

Its been 10 years since Ive had my last child so Im out of the loop :) Do I have to boil water before giving it to baby? Can I just use bottled water? Do you have to warm a bottle or can you use room temperature? Do you still have to boil bottles/nipples/pacifiers or can you just put them in dishwasher? Did you wash all baby clothes/blankets, etc before baby wore them for the first time? Anything else I should know about sterilization and baby products? Thanks!

I was wondering when is the best time to have a baby shower? After baby is born (thought u might be busy with new baby) or before baby is born so you can pay attention to the people who come? Also this might come off ungrateful but its not, I just dont want to waste things that wont be used. Anyhow is there a way to register for a new baby registry like a wedding registry? I wouldnt want people giving me things I wont use, thats mean since I wont use their gift, id be upset if I gave something and it didnt get used? More specifically I dont want TONNES of baby brandname toys and Dora/Pooh paraphanalia. I personally hate winnie the pooh :(

I'm moving to the states in a couple of months and I've read that breastfeeding in public is illegal in some states. I've done some research and all I've found are laws that say just the opposite. Has anybody encountered a problem while breastfeeding in public?

Thanks in advance!

My husband and I have a 10 week old daughter together and I feel like he doesn't pay a lot of attention to her. When I ask him about it he just says it's because she is so little right now. I think this is a sorry @ss excuse ! On the other hand he pays soooo much attention to his 9 year old son from a previous marriage it's rediculous. He goes to get his son every other weekend in another state (150 miles away) but he won't even go pick up our daughter from the babysitters after work for me (it's only 5 miles from our house). I don't feel like he if being fair to our daughter, she don't get anywhere near the attention his other kid gets. I feel bad for feeling like this but it is becoming a big problem for me! He acts like our child is not as special to him and that makes me sad and mad as h3ll at the same time. Do you think it's just because our daughter is so little and he's telling the truth, or is there more to it? Or am I just making a mountain out of a mole hill?

I woke up this morning to the WORST diaper EVER.It was green liquid like and had little yellow curds and it was everywhere, it exploded out of his diaper, onto his stomach, and back! I had to bathe him to get it off.
He is mostly breastfed with an occasional few ounces of formula....a few days ago we bought a different kind of formula (went from enfamil lipil to enfamil gentlease) and he came down with thrush so he has had a little more formula to eat than I would like (my nipples are killing me!)

I don't drink milk ( too expensive) and I haven't eaten a lot of dairy since he was born.maybe a yogurt or two....

so why did he have this massive explosion of diarrhea?? You think it is the formula? should I stop it?

(we are going to the doctors in 2 hours for the thrush so I will def. be asking the doctor but was just wondering what other moms thought)

Thank you!

I'm breastfeeding my baby & apparently what I ate for dinner has given him terrible gas :( Does anyone know how long or how many feedings it takes for it to no longer be in the breastmilk? Sorry, I didn't know how to word that...I have fed him about 4 times since and after each time he still appears to have gas. I just pumped and dumped. When do you think it will no longer be affecting him? I'm trying to drink a ton of water to flush it out. Help, he is screaming his poor little head off!

I am expecting a baby boy for early November and, in order to save money and make it a bit more personal, would like to design my own birth annoucement card. I am looking for ideas, possibly websites to give me inspiration. I would just like to add that the design would have to be fairly simple and the writing short as it will have to be in 2 languages. (French, my mother tongue as well as English!)
I will be very grateful for any tips from you, artistic people! Thanks in advance!! :-)
