yes. Thirty four weeks, six weeks early. she is now a healthy 15 month old.
now she stayed in the nicu for about two weeks but other than that everything turned out ok.
now i recommend this show to anyone who wants information about premies or high risk pregnancy on discovery health channel they have a show called Babies: Special Delivery.
i was not given much information when i had my daughter all i heard was preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome. i have learned a great deal from this show about how severe my case actually was, but i learned about how things affected my daughter. no need to get overstressed it makes it all worse but it helps to get info your doctor isnt going to share when the time comes.

My oldest was 5 weeks early. That is considered premature, but not severely. He was 6 lbs 3 oz and he had respiratory distress syndrome when he was born. His lungs were not mature yet and he was having a very hard time breathing. He spent 5 days in the NICU. He is now 13.

My son was born at 29 weeks and was in the hospital until a week before his due date. He had all kinds of problems and he was also born with GBS (Group B Strep) because be was born before I was tested for it. Due to the wonderful treatment he received at Children's Hospital in Seattle he is now an extremely active, completely normal, healthy 3 year-old with no delays and can already read some small words. Occupational therapy is recommended up until age 2, unless they catch up on their development early. My son was released from his just before his 1st birthday.

My baby was 5 weeks early with hardly any problems, i got lucky.
However, his father was 2 months early and almost died. He had to be on life support because he couldn't breath, he was so tiny and stayed in the hospital for like a month.
It really depends on how early your baby is.

My baby was born at 36 weeks, she's fine and healthy.
A woman I worked with had had her baby at 25 weeks, really scary, but he turned out as healthy as a horse.
The hardest part is leaving them in the hospital.

I used to work in the preemie nursery when I was working as a respiratory therapist. I never had a preemie, but I have seen them survive and grow to be big and healthy when they were born as early as 28 weeks. Of course, the hospital was up north. I don't put any stock in southern hospitals.
