I woke up this morning to the WORST diaper EVER.It was green liquid like and had little yellow curds and it was everywhere, it exploded out of his diaper, onto his stomach, and back! I had to bathe him to get it off.
He is mostly breastfed with an occasional few ounces of formula....a few days ago we bought a different kind of formula (went from enfamil lipil to enfamil gentlease) and he came down with thrush so he has had a little more formula to eat than I would like (my nipples are killing me!)
I don't drink milk ( too expensive) and I haven't eaten a lot of dairy since he was born.maybe a yogurt or two....
so why did he have this massive explosion of diarrhea?? You think it is the formula? should I stop it?
(we are going to the doctors in 2 hours for the thrush so I will def. be asking the doctor but was just wondering what other moms thought)
Thank you!

My nipples are sore from the thrush....breastfeeding was great until he got thrush but now it is painful for him to eat and he pulls my breast, I am pumping to avoid unecessary nipple damage.

I have never given any of my three children formula and they had diaper explosions just like that. I wouldn't worry about it. It's obviously normal.

Well make sure your dr gives you something for the thrush otherwise you will keep passing it back tothe baby and ues it as long as the dr says even if it seems better the diarrhea is probably from the thrush. Make sure you wash everything really good after the baby eats.O yeah and get "soothies" from the drug store they may have them at wal mart they are a gel breast pad they are a god send it will really help with the sore nipples REALLY worth the money

Make sure that BOTH of you are treated for the thrush, Do not let them just give you ointment for your breasts, make sure you get antibiotics.
Okay now to the dipper issue- if you just changed the formula it is probably a reaction. Babies digestive systems are very sensitive. That is one of the many reasons that breastfeeding is best. It is the perfect food for babies, easy to digest and 100% of the nutrition that they need.
Speak to your doctor about the formula, but also be aware that babies do have explosions from time to time without reason

It's probably just the transition of the different formula.. If you plan on continuing to breastfeed it is importand that you take your prenatal vitamin and eat properly.. Afterall what you eats DOES affect the health and nutrition of your baby. If you don't like/drink milk try making yourself some smoothies to get calcium IF you do not get enough calcium the baby will "leach" it out of anywhere he/she can get it and eventually it may lead to tooth loss or bone density issues.... I like to make smoothies w/ yogurt/milk Carnation Instant breakfast is really good too.... If your nipples are sore you may not be breastfeeding properly and may need the help of a lactation consultant/group... Most hospitals have support groups that meet during the day/evening.. Call and see where yours meets.. It's also good for getting out of the house... Good luck

welcome to the great world on poop dipper this will not be your first or last dipper like this one lol i think you need to pick what you are doing to feed this little one i don't think you should feed the baby both breast milk and formula you may make the baby have a lot of gas . if you pick breastfeeding you need to eat right and take your vitams hope the baby feels better soon

It sounds like its the transition from one formula to another so I suggest getting the old one back. You should also check to see if theres a fever. Thanks for painting the real picture of a baby with the runs... you worded it perfectly lol and I now know what to look for when I have my little baby, hope your baby is healthy.

It sounds just like this tummy is getting adjusted to the new formula, also the blow out diaper, we always had that until I started using the pampers swaddlers diapers. even the huggies diapers always leaked

diaper explosions are totally normal, my babies did them daily till i introduced solids at 6 mths
breastfeeding does it, cos it comes out so easy, when your on formula totally it gets harder to poop, even constipated!
