I started it at 6 months, but the peditrician made me stop, even though she had no reaction. He said wait until 8 months, because custard contains eggs, which is a high allergy food. He also told me to wait until 8 months for cheese and yogurt, for the same reason. He said introducing some foods too early could set off a whole string of food allergies that she would not have if I waited a little longer.
http://www.fns.usda.gov/tn/Resources/feedinginfants-ch7.pdf -From the USDA guide page 52 and 53 - Egg yolk may be introduced to infants at or after 8 months of age.Do not introduce egg whites and whole egg (it contains egg white) to children younger than 1 year. Egg whites contain substances that may cause allergic reactions in babies.

They can start to have a few tablespoon fulls of milk after 6 months. You have realize too that formula is made from cows milk, thats why when babies have colic they are switched to soy, so theyre not getting the lactose. You just dont switch them to drinking milk for a meal until theyre a year.
My son loves the custard foods...lol, he has my sweet tooth.
What i'd like to know though, is why you can give them strawberry baby food, but not real strawberries.... it must be the same thing.

thats crazy! babies have to eat too.a 7 month old baby can eat anything as long as it is smashed up. even table food.drs will tell you not to give your baby this or that until they reach a certain age but babies get hungry just like we do and formula is not enough to satisfy their hunger.i started feeding my kids solid food when they were 2 weeks old.and believe.me, they didn't cry all night or all day.nor were they sick all the time.baby food is good for starters but at 7 months thats not enough.milk is good for helping them to gain strong bones. there is nothing wrong with giving them milk unless they have a cold.milk does cause congestion when they have a cold.i wouldn't suggest giving them meat until they have 6 0r 8 teeth.as the meat will choke them.it needs to be smashed too .when you start them on meat.

I think that it is ok to give to the child if it is specifically created for infants. Just be sure to note any other ingredients in the custard, such as eggs, because many children have food allergies that are pretty much unknown until you give them a new food.

At 7 months, it is not necessary to give them "desserts". Their boy needs fruits and veggies for proper nutrition.
If you want your child to have the custard, then unless your child is lactose intollerant (has a milk allergy) the milk in the custard will be ok for you to give your child.

Actually, there are milk products in formula. The difference is that it is cooked and processed, and that makes it more digestible to your child.
Babies love that stuff and it doesn't hurt them unless they have a serious food allergy.

no, she makes her own custard, greenish yellow, sticky, smelly, lol. the milk until one year thing is a conspiracy cooked up by the breast feeding nazi's and the formula company elite to make sure they can rake in the profits for at least a year.

You cant give them just milk, because of how its digested. Milk when in something, like yogurt or custurd, those properties change, and thats why you can. Not sure of the exact science, but thats why.

Actually, many baby formulas have milk in them. It'll be fine unless your baby has a lactose intolerance.
