My 5 month old boy seems to be healthy and happy. He is also exclusively breastfed. He does move his hands and legs energetically. He just hasn't turned over by himself. He can do it if he holds on to something. He is developing a little late?

I asked this question before and didn't get any answers. My 3 month old has a very red and swollen upper lip since she was about 8 weeks. Her doctor just told me to put vasseline on it. She didn't bother finding out what it is or whats causing it. It looks like she was in the mouth , you know how our lip would swell if we busted it. It has not got any better and its very painful to her. Causes her not to want to eat because it hurts. I made an appoinment with a new doctor for Thursday. Anyone have an idea of what this could be? If it was a cold sore, it should of gone away by now. Please help!! On top of that she has bad gas so she is so miserable.

I tend to make a lot of songs up on the spot. But my favorite one to sing to my 2 month old is James Taylor's 'You Can Close Your Eyes". It seems to really soothe him to sleep.
What do you sing to your little one?

I have a question about sodium content in commerical baby food. I bought three different brands of sweet potatoes.
Earth's Best organic had 50 mg of sodium
Gerber had 15 mg of sodium
Del Monte had 0 mg of sodium.
i know adults should watch their sodium content, but what about babies? It seems like a big difference between the brands. How much sodium does a 6month old need?
Any info you have would be helpful.

I have the bebesounds angel care monitor which sets off a beep if the baby hasn't moved for 10 seconds, and an alarm at 20. The 10 second beep has gone off twice since my baby has been home (she's 2 weeks old tomorrow), but when I went to her bassinet, she was fine. I'm wondering if this is a problem or if they're just false alarms? I'm also wondering, if the baby does stop moving for 20 seconds, are they able to be helped through rescue breathing and/or CPR? I'm imagining there has to be something that can be done or the alarms wouldn't exist. Thanks for your advice!

My boyfriend told me I had to think of a great baby gift for his BEST FRIEND...it is their first child and was due yesterday so I don't have much time. I would love it to be unique and something that nobody would think of! Got any ideas?

What was the most useful gift you received?

My 9 month old is trying to crawl. I keep him on the living room floor most of the day to encourage him to move around. The only problem with this is, no matter how often I vacuum, he always ends up with his hands covered in every tiny little piece of lint or hair imaginable!
It really grosses me out and I am having to wipe his hands every 5-10 minutes!
So this brings up several questions....
Do I have resign myself to vacuuming 3 times a day?
Should I just chill out and not obsess?
Should I rip out the carpet and insist on wood floors?
Should I never be without a damp rag in my hand to wipe his?

Argh this is just driving me nuts. Any experienced moms, please advise me!! =)

My friend just had a baby, and she refuses to give her child water [baby is almost a month old]. It has been hot around the area, and she only feeds her child formula, and nothing other. When I was a newborn, my mom said she started feeding me water and small amounts of juice a little after I was a month old.

I think it is absurd that you shouldn't feed a child water, water causes no harm. But my friend is refusing to feed her child water until she is finally past 6 months. My mother [a mom of two] has had experience with children, including my sibling and I, and our baby cousins, but my friend refuses to take her advice.

Call me ignorant, but if I were a mother who had no one to go to for help other than the internet and the doctor, I would atleast take an experienced mother's advice. Yes, my friend has no one to go to, and she has not much of an idea, and as much as my mom and I try to help, she refuses to take it.

Is she being stubborn?

I had this done to my son 24 hours after he was born. He is about 10 weeks old now and it doesn't look right to me. There's some white stuff around some of the area and it does not wash off in bath. Some of it looks like its separating. I don't know exactly how long this takes or if I should put something on it.

Hes 6 weeks old, they have him on Zantac because they think he has reflux. however its not helping. He cries because hes in so much pain. He eats all the time, like hes not getting full, Hes always moving he cannot sit still. Hes really jerky i dont understand whats wrong with him. Hes on Similac Alimentum. Do you think he could have an allergy to cows milk? What should i do? What could it be? Im taking him to the ER tonight to get some answers or something. Ive had him to just about every pediatrician here in town and still they think nothing of it. My hubby and i between us have raised 4 babies (this is our fifth) and we know this isnt normal. He shouldnt be in this much pain. He doesnt even sleep anymore. Help me!!

My baby is almost 4 months old. She is beginning to reach out at toys. She likes to stand up on my lap and supports her head well. What kind of activity center will be the best as she gets older? A bouncer, swing, excersaucer?

All ive read is wait until your contractions are so intense that you cant walk or talk and that they need to be 3-5 minutes apart. This is my first child and honestly i'm scared to wait that long. I live about 30 mins from the hospital with no traffic. I want to go as soon as i thnk i may be having contractions. Is this ok or should i wait? what did you do? did you regret it?

We practice a lot!! He is good with little help from an adult, but just can't do for longer than a few seconds on his own. We give him plenty of tummy time and have him sit up in strollers and high chairs. He just turned 6 months

I am so sick and tired of people telling me I am "fortunate" to "be able" to stay at home and raise my son. It is not out of luck or fortune that I stay at home. It is my priority. Anyone (excluding single parent) can stay at home to raise there children. You may have to cut big corners, or live in a small home or even have to rent an apt., but it can be done.
