I asked this question before and didn't get any answers. My 3 month old has a very red and swollen upper lip since she was about 8 weeks. Her doctor just told me to put vasseline on it. She didn't bother finding out what it is or whats causing it. It looks like she was in the mouth , you know how our lip would swell if we busted it. It has not got any better and its very painful to her. Causes her not to want to eat because it hurts. I made an appoinment with a new doctor for Thursday. Anyone have an idea of what this could be? If it was a cold sore, it should of gone away by now. Please help!! On top of that she has bad gas so she is so miserable.

I know they get sucking blisters, but its swollen on the inside and out the size of a quater almost. She is bottled fed.

My dr. said that my daughter's swollen lip was from sucking so much, esp without her pacifier. Is she nursing? If yes, that's okay. Is she bottlefeeding? Maybe change type of nipple. Is she sucking on a binky? Try it or change it.

Mylecon drops can usually help with gas, but if you're nursing her, it's what's you're eating that's bothering her. Avoid milk, dairy products, broccoli, sweet potatoes, cabbage, pork. Hopefully one or the other will help your little snuggle-bunny back to sleep. Walk her around jiggling her up and down, and burp her often after her meal to minimize the amount of air that goes down and stays down.

I'm not sure what it could be but how awful for her! It's horrible to know your little one is in pain and not be able to help! Definately take her to a new doctor and demand they find out what's going on!

I don't know the answer to your question, sorry, but you might try something like www.webmd.com. On their website you can enter a search with key words describing your child's ailment. I've used it many times myself for various sicknesses. Good luck!
