We practice a lot!! He is good with little help from an adult, but just can't do for longer than a few seconds on his own. We give him plenty of tummy time and have him sit up in strollers and high chairs. He just turned 6 months

Encourage him to sit up on his own. Letting him sit in strollers and high chairs don't develop the muscles he needs.

Encourage him to reach toys he enjoys playing with, and use a Boppy to help him go from a less-severe angle to a sitting position.

My daughter is 6month and 2 weeks. She actually is sitting up by her self a little more than before. If you have one, use a walker or a baby Einstein. It will help her back get stronger. I also sit her up in either the corner of a couch or place a pillow behind him for support, then put his toys in front of him so that it will give him a reason to lean forward. You'll notice after awhile that he won't lean back as much, and will start supporting himself.

Prop him up with a boppy or some other pillows.

Some kids take longer to learn that others, but its something they have to figure out on their own.

My 6 month old is crawling and standing... lol. Every kid is different.

I used to prop him up on the sofa next to me with some toys. BUt then again, he was always pulling up to sit, even at 2 months.

Just give him time.

Just give it time& he will do it on his own.
You are doing all the right things.
His abdominal muscles need to be strong enough to hold himself up. Tummy time, stroller & high chair time will all help him get stronger.

He'll be sitting up before you know it!

There is this great chair that you can buy from Target that helps develope the stomach muscle in infants. It actually safely props them in a sitting position! I wish i could remember the name...but I know they sell them at target and it is an infant chair!! Hope that helps.

My daughter replaced into like this. X-rays and examinations confirmed she had underdeveloped bones and muscle groups. i replaced into instructed her jaw muscle groups have been so susceptible I could desire to basically provide her gentle food and anticipate her to take a protracted time to devour. We in basic terms had to plot out life round her sluggish ingesting. She additionally had epilepsy, which replaced into basically clinically determined later while she started having tonic clonic seizures. yet looking back, I endure in techniques how frequently she in basic terms stared into area, in her own little international, and now think of she replaced into in all risk experiencing absence seizures, which replaced into yet another excuse for her taking see you later to devour. It took years for her to be exact clinically determined, and by using all this time, maximum medical doctors have been completely unhelpful, one even wrote that there replaced into no longer something incorrect with my baby yet i replaced right into a nasty mom who inspired her to 'act up' . while she finally observed a neurologist, she replaced into furious, because of the fact she reported the different wellness practitioner has written down my description of a tonic clonic seizure - then defined it as 'appearing up'! So do no longer provide up - in the adventure that your daughter is taking this long to devour, there will be a reason. it may desire to no longer be the comparable motives as my daughter, yet there remains something making her take see you later.

there's a seat you can buy and sit him in it while he watches tv or while you feed him. its called a bumbo. walmart sells a chair similar to it and its cheaper! you can find the bumbo chair online or at target stores. i didn't have one for my daughter because we didn't have any bumbo retailers around here. walmart just started selling the chair and our target just started selling bumbo. i just propped her up with pillows. he'll do fine. good luck.

You can get loads of toys and cushions that have toys in them but help to support them until they can themselves. There's no rush anyway, try one of those though they are quite cute too.
