Hes 6 weeks old, they have him on Zantac because they think he has reflux. however its not helping. He cries because hes in so much pain. He eats all the time, like hes not getting full, Hes always moving he cannot sit still. Hes really jerky i dont understand whats wrong with him. Hes on Similac Alimentum. Do you think he could have an allergy to cows milk? What should i do? What could it be? Im taking him to the ER tonight to get some answers or something. Ive had him to just about every pediatrician here in town and still they think nothing of it. My hubby and i between us have raised 4 babies (this is our fifth) and we know this isnt normal. He shouldnt be in this much pain. He doesnt even sleep anymore. Help me!!

Im waiting until 5pm because i have other children that i need to line care up for, and my hubby gets home at 5. Its not like his life is in danger. I cannot just pick up and go when i have 4 other little boys to take care of as well. IF he was single child that would be another story. But hes not going to die

I really feel for you. theres' nothing more scary than having an infant in discomfort or pain and you have no clue as to why...not matter if its your 1st or your 5th! It never ceases to scare the CRAP out of us! I can only think of maybe gas....when babies have stomach isues they tend to want to eat more even though its making it that much worse. Possibly gas? Ask the pedi about Mylicon drops....it helped both my kids out with gas pains. I'll give you one experience I had with my daughter last year...shes 4 now, I was so scared that her appendix was about to burst. she wouldn't walk she couldn't sit up, she was screaming in pain, a horrible scream that I had not heard from her before. I called the pedis', I was litterally on my way out the door (going to the ER) and I decided to wait just a little bit longer and she farted...and wouldn't you know that she felt better. This lasted the whole day. It was horrible. I really didn't want to chance her appendix bursting (her pain was localized in that general area) But boy does gas play a MAJOR role in the pain and suffering of our little ones. You know best. If your gut feeling istelling you something is wrong, take him. Especially being 6 weeks old. I'm sorry that the pedis' haven't been of any help.... But without actually beign there and wittnessing this, I would suspect intestinal blockage or gas or some sort of intestinal tract infection....At 6 weeks your infant shouldn't be on cows milk at allll!! Their bodies can't handle the bacteria in the milk...I'm not sure what Alimentum is (I know similiac is the formula--but what type this is, I"m not aware of) But really I would say that if you have given your 6 week old cows milk...that would be the source.Cows milk should be given after they turn 1.... Did you tell the Drs??? I'm surprised no one has caught that

My grandsons all are lactose intolerant and we had to change formulas. The oldest used to scream and cry...eat constantly and was bloated and gassy. Mama was nursing and kept trying at the insistance of the docs. They kept telling her baby needed more water but it wasn't until much later that we heard about lactose intolerant babies, etc. Poor little guy cried through most of his first year ! I agree with others here...check with the docs and insist on tests to make sure there is no blockage or hernia or some other intestinal condition that could be causing his distress. Log the symptons and appts, etc so that you can go back and refer to what's been noticed. Be sure and ask about switching formula's and if I were you...would not base all my hopes on just one doc either. Something is wrong, and there's no better person than you and your hubby to know this. If so many of the docs in town are just not listening...start demanding that something be done for the little guy ! He should not be allowed to suffer this pain he's in.I wish you all well and some much needed relief soon for you and your boy.

We switched our son to Enfamil Gentlease and that helped soo much. The painful crying stopped after about 1 week and we took him off of all of the tummy stuff we had him on.
At six weeks ours was eating 6 oz every 3-4 hrs and would be very angry if he didn't get that.
Ours was very jerky too, couldn't lie still. That will stop here in another couple of weeks. I know it's freaky but, that was normal for ours and he still can't ever stop moving around, so interested in everything.

I hope all goes well at the ER tonight. Check and see if they think you should switch to a lower lactose formula. Enfamil also has one that guarantees to get rid of colic pains in 48 hours. I can't remember what it's called but, it's new and is on their website.

I am not a doctor, but I've raised four children and many have suffered a different malady as infants.
I had a very colicky baby boy too. I nursed him and he nursed constantly. I used traditional methods to treat his colic which seemed to work.
Before I go on I am concerned about what you have called "jerky" and the statement "he cannot sit still." You've said the doctors don't seemed concerned so if this is not a neurological problem I think these suggestions might work for you.
I use to place my baby on a warm towel after burping him. When he was fussy I would rub his tummy and gently press down so he would pass gas. I would also move his legs back and forth. Finally, I found a health food store that carried a natural, homeopathic, herbal supplement for infants called "colic tablets."
I also found swaddling my child, helped him sleep. Swaddling is using a LIGHTWEIGHT receiving blanket, wrapping the child's body securely with it, (arms and legs close to his body). Your baby will look like a mummy.DO NOT PULL THE BLANKET SO TIGHTLY AROUND YOUR CHILD THAT YOU WILL HURT HIM.
I also carried my child a lot, patting his back. Whenever I sat down with him, I laid him across my lap on his tummy, and rubbed him. It wasn't easy but we both survived and he has grown into a wonderful man!!!

I know exactly what you mean.. My son did the same thing.. He would scream from 5 to about 11 at night.. Gas med made it worse..They put him on Nutramegin formula.. It seemed to help with the fussyness.. They put him on Zantac, which made everything worse and then uped it and then the next step was Prevacid had someone tell me about another way to deal with it..

I hated the idea of giving my lil baby meds like that.. I was told about taking them to a chiropractor to get realigned.. And so I said what the heck.. The meds werent helping..

I took him when he was 3 mths.. With in 2 days he was completly differnt no screaming, he was content.. I took him off all the meds.. And havent had a problem since.. He will be 8 mths this week..

Try getting some Soy Formula for him. Especially if he is having excessive vomiting, gas, and runny stools as those are all signs of a cow milk allergy. My friend went through 5 pediatricians and every reflux medication and formula there is in 2 years until she took my sdvice about the Soy Formula. Her little boy hasn't had a problem since.

my twins are 8 weeks old and have gone through 4 different kinds of formula. enfacare lipil, nutramigen, alimentum and now they are on neocate the prescription stuff and they are still gassy. we even went to a gas specialist and he said that it is something the babies will grow out of. In the meantime he gave me some techniques to do to help releave it like baby exercises and bicycling, and warm baths. However it is a little stressing the best for me was over the knees on their stomachs and just softly pat and rub on the back. It don't take it all away but it helps.

Alimentum is for cows milk allergies, but if that is still not helping him, try Nutramigen. My doctor recommend it over the Allimentun. I would still take him to the doctor, or a pediatric urgent care, just to make sure it isn't something else, they say nothing is wrong, switch formulas. Try the Nutramigen.

It should be possible to re-establish your breast milk and that would go a long way toward soothing him. He wants the comfort of the nipple to ease the pain. My son was allergic to cow's milk. It's not that uncommon. He could also be allergic to the zantac. Try laying him on his tummy over your knee on top of a heating pad turned down low, and rub his back.
Aren't doctors great?! They don't know what's wrong, so they tell it's nothing.

If this lady wanted an abortion it replaced into her suitable to get one end of tale. My recommendations on abortion may well be summed up like this- If I have been to confirm i replaced into pregnant say next week and unable to get an abortion i might shoot my brains out formerly i might have a newborn. i'm not mom cloth, i don't % to be a mom, I artwork against starting to be a mom (pills and condoms every time), yet while something is going incorrect i won't have a newborn; With the way i've got considered human beings attempt and undertake interior the states i think of little ones post for adoption usually have a tremendously tough existence, and that i don't think of i might desire to hold a newborn that got here out of me and supply it away. i'm going to evade it in any respect expenses yet while mandatory i might have an abortion in a heartbeat. for people who're against it- Do you have an accompanied newborn? greater effective yet do you have an accompanied AIDs newborn? Who will take them with the mothers can not have abortions? And do you not bear in mind the hell that got here approximately final time abortion replaced right into a criminal offense?
