You'll get a variety of answers. It really should matter on the babies adjusted age. I mean a baby born at 24 wks versus a baby born at 34 wks, thats a huge difference in weight and you wouldn't expect either of them to be at the same weight. At 4 mths my premature baby was only 7 lbs but that is ok with her since she was a 25 weeker. Considering her adjusted age at 4 mths was only a couple weeks old.

my first child was a 32 weeker weighed 3lbs 2 oz at birth and at 4 months weighed about 6 lbs. My 2nd was a 27 weeker weighed 2lbs 3 oz at birth and was 5lbs 3 oz at 4 months. She didnt come home until she was 4 months and one of the reasons she had to stay was to gain a little more weight and eat better so I rember her weight becuase they wanted her 5 lbs before she came home. Also My oldest is now 6 years and weighs 33 lbs and my youngest is 4 and weighs 31 so they are both still pretty under weight.

For a premature baby, you should compare using the baby's adjusted age, not the actual age.
For example, if the baby was born 2 months early, you should compare to other 2 month old babies, not to 4 month old babies.

My son was born 13 weeks early at 2 pounds, 2 ounces. At his 4 month checkup he weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces.
He just had his 9 month checkup and he weighed 19.2 pounds! He's catching up!
