Doctors say 4 months but if you have a baby that is not satisfied you can start by 11/2 months. Also a little cereal before bed can help them sleep through the night sooner. I did it with my three children and they all slept through the night at 2 months old.

My baby's doctor said I could start feeding my son baby cereal at 4 months. So I fed him at 4 months, it was funny to see is face, giving the expression on his face like he was thinking, "What's this". Well he just made 5 months and he loves baby cereal. I just regular baby cereal no fruits. Plus it fills him up in the morning too. My first son didn't like baby cereal at all. So I think every child is different.

I started my daughter on cereal around 4 months. However, I did not mix it with her bottle. I would spoon feed it to her. Baby center has a great quiz to help you determine if your baby is ready. Also, your pediatrician should / can provide you with information on hot to tell when it's time.
By introducing cereal and other foods too soon, the odds of food allergies increase. Attached is a great article from baby center. I hope it helps.

Babies can begin eating rice cereal between 4 and 6 months old. My son started on rice cereal with either water or formula mixed in. We like the Gerber brand.
Best to you!

some would tell you 6 months , or 4 months or a year old. however, i don't know how they can let their babies go hungry like that. 2 weeks old is not too young to start your child on cereal even though drs will tell you different.most of the drs nowadays are young themselves and are reading from a book. babies are much healthier when fed solid foods early.take it from an experienced older mother.

I never gave my son "baby" cereal.
He started solids at 7 1/2 months... and one of his first foods was old fashioned oatmeal. Not baby oatmeal... He liked the texture of it. My mom gave him baby cereal and he was disgusted. Turned around and gave him regular oatmeal and he gobbled it up.
It's really not necessary to give them cereal... you can skip that stage altogether.

The food and drug people now say 6 months. I fed mine at 3 months thats what they recommended for my 11 year old so i did it for both. My grandmother fed all 13 of her kids from the second week on. I think that was a bit much, so i would suggest between 3 and 6 months.

most people start feeding solids at 4-6months and they start w/ the baby cereal. 2 of my kids started @ 6mos and the other one didn't take any solids until he was close to 9mos. I tried @ 6mos but he just wasn't ready.

It's best to wait until 6 months before introducing anything other breastmilk or formula, but it can be started as early as 4 months if the doctor says it's okay.
