My daughter got her shots yesterday and has since been running a fever. I have been keeping it under control with tylenol. ( I talked to my child's doctor about it first though).... However, this evening she has become dehydrated a little bit (and her soft spot has sunk).. I called the doctor about it a little while ago, and they told me to get some pedialyte. When I did the dosage on the bottle does not have it for a baby that young. My doctors office has already closed for the weekend, so I thought I would ask you what you all thought. I was guessing like 1-2 oz. every 4 hours or so, on top of her regular feedings... But I am not totally sure that if that is too much or not enough... Thank You.....

you give as much as you would of the normal feeding so if she can handle 1-2 oz every 4 hrs of liquids then give her that. My boys would take 2 oz every 3 hrs for 7 days sometimes when they got really sick and that was around 4-6 months. The pharmacy may be able to help you as well with the information. Or you can try calling the Dr's office, they are suppose to have a nursline in case you need to get a hold of your Dr. I have called the Dr for my boys at 2 am before.

I guess everyone has different opinions about giving that to a baby. I was told by my sons doctor to NEVER give it to an infant. Breast milk/formula should be given instead. That is what is best for a baby to keep them hydrated. I'd call a doctors office, and use the doctor on call. It's not late at night, and they rather get a call about something like that now then at 2am.

For a child that young I would only give breast milk (or formula if you use it) increasing feedings to rehydrate. Giving Pedialyte would take the place of the feeding and the child would be missing out on nutrition. I would also think that if the manufacture doesn't have a dosage for a baby that young they don't intend for it to be used for a baby that age. Just something to think about.

I hane an 11 week old son...I'd give her as much as she'll drink for 1 or 2 feedings then supplement her fourmula with the electrolyte. She needs the electrolytes to replace those lost with dehydration....

2 oz every 4 hours sounds good. I asked my sister and she has 2 kids.
