The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends parents NOT use bumpers anymore due to the risk of SIDS. But I see the one you are looking at is breathable. And if you do chose to use a bumper then the manufacturers usually recommend you remove it when baby begins to sit or pull-up, whichever comes first.

There are new ones out that a baby can't tuck itself under as it goes under the mattress and over the sides.
I didn't use one for both my kids, because of the dangers associated with them.
Less in cot is better. No pillows, light breathable cotton blankets are just fine. Mobile is fine - avoid stuffed animals in there too.
I will put it this way, less in there less to keep clean from dust mites and allergens. These things have been linked to cot death. Not to scare you, but avoid them if possible.
Bed is for sleeping not stimulation.

Seems like a strangulation hazard since it's only fastened with velcro. Plus, the whole purpose of a bumper is for decoration. There are some parents who argue that it's so the baby doesn't bump its' head on the bars. This doesn't prevent that, either. Seems pretty pointless to me...what the heck is the purpose of it? Plus, it's ugly!

I had to remove the bumper altogether just the other day. Noah's 8, almost 9mths old. He, too, was pulling himself up on it and doing all kinds of crazy stuff...easier to get rid of it than worry about him getting caught up in it.

IF U CHOOSE TO PUT UR baby in a crib please get a baby positioner. it has velcro and u can change the size accrodly to how big the baby is. u can get it a wal-mart. like ten dollars ro less. but trust me, it works. it is used so the baby dosent roll over on the belly and dont like to say it but suffacate. look up the meaning of SIDS. if know about this then please get the positioner. good luck.

All crib bumpers, even the breathable kind, are a strangulation risk for your baby. Please don't get one!
