I know people say you should put them in the middle. But I also have a 16 month old. So do I put the baby seat in the middle and take the chance of him beating on my newborn or put the the baby on the outside to have the space between them?

I have an 11 month old son. I went to his crib today and he had something in his mouth. It was a nickel sized piece of rubber. Easily large enough to have choked him. It was the end of the nipple from his bottle. We give him a bottle at night and he goes to sleep drinking it. If it had been at night or I hadn't went in there when I did, he'd have choked to death.

So should we stop giving him bottles and pacifiers altogether? Or was this possibly a poorly made bottle that came apart on him? Is it normal for a baby to do that? Really need some advice here. Thank you in advance.

My baby is about 2 weeks old, and I know that if I did not wake her every three hours to eat, she would sleep for much longer. She is breastfed. I know that right now she has to eat every three hours or so at night, but when can I start letting her sleep as long as she wants without fear of malnutrition?

I am taking my 5 month old son to our lakehouse at the end of the month. I would like to begin to introduce him to the water, as he loves bathtime and I think he will be a water baby. Anyone know of any good floats for infants? I would like one with a supportive seat, as he can sit supported, but not quite by himself. I would also prefer a sunshade, but this is not a must as I have read bad reviews of many floats with shades. Also, any water baby tips would be helpful. Thanks!

My son is five months old now. He can roll from belly to back well, and has started rolling back to belly. He is very strong with great head control. Is it safe to remove the positioner from his crib yet? If not, what's a good guide/time line?

I know it's different for each baby, depending on size, etc., but I'm trying to buy most of the diapers we'll need ahead of time, but don't remember how long our daughter wore newborn size. TIA~

I am a 35 year old healthy woman who does not drink or smoke. My baby is almost 4 months. I want to sell my breast milk for profit. This will give me a little income to stay home with my little one a little longer before returning back to work. Any suggestions.

Most answers I read from breastfeed at all costs individuals cite medical reasons as being the only acceptable reason not to breastfeed, my question to you is....

What is your opinion about having more children after finding out you cannot breastfeed for medical reasons? Do you think that having more children is neglectful when you know you will be unable to give the the "best" food?

I just picked up the script, and they also gave me Ranitidine .6 ml 2x's a day. I didn't even know the Dr. was calling it in for him. I didn't recieve any info on the drug from the pharmacy, but I looked up that it is zantax for reflux.( he also has reflux) But it said that zantax isn't good for people with abnormal kidneys. And his kidneys has fluid on them....from his urine backing up. Has anyone heard of this? Or have you ever given your child Ranitidine when they had bad kidneys????? Thank you so much!!!!

I breastfed my baby until she was four weeks old when her pediatrician claimed she was "allergic" to my breastmilk after having blood in her stool. Her stool was also a weird consistancy and had various colors and textures in it besides the streaks of blood. She thought it might be a dairy allergy so I stopped eating/drinking any dairy. A few days later my baby was still having the same strange poop. Her doctor said she would have to start drinking hypoallergenic formula.

My nipples were severely cracked/bleeding for the first couple weeks of my daughter's life. I'm wondering now if I could have had an infection in them that caused my daughter's stomach problems. She's now nine weeks old and is have a horrible time with her BM because of the formula. I'm having a weird yellow crust form on my nipples and have been running a fever for weeks; I wonder if I could still have an infection... Has anyone ever heard of a nipple infection causing GI symptoms in an infant?

I was disappointed and suprised to read the responses on breastfeeding on another question posted in here recently. I shared my personal situation with the asker about how i was unable to breastfeed completely to my own detriment. No one knew the ins and outs of my plight and yet, i had nothing but thumbs down from my fellow mothers cause i gave formula. Reading through the responses i realised all mothers who were supportive and unable to breastfeed for whatever reason were given thumbs down. I feel quite angry and disappointed that people can be so judgemental about this topic. Everyone knows breast is best - obviously! but for some poor mothers IT ISNT AN OPTION... would you condemn a mother for giving formula to her newborn because she has her breasts removed from cancer? I support breastfeeding where possible, however i also support my fellow mothers in their own choices. Mothers have enough guilt to deal with from society as it is. Thanks for listening.

My friend has 2 more weeks to go before she is due. She smoked weed before the pregnancy and stopped until February 15th. She didnt smoke everyday and when she did she only took 4-5 hits of it. She quit around 4 weeks ago,on her due date it will be 6 weeks. She had an ultrasound a week ago and the baby is perfect he'll most likely weigh around 8lbs when born. Should she worry about the baby being taken away because of marijuana use?

Am I the only one who's just amazed at some of the questions we see here? Even the most basic of books about pregnancy and infant care cover so many of the questions I see here at Y/A's, it surprises me that folks will go to the internet to ask 4 billion strangers what they should do or think or say, when experts and moms have been discussing many of the issues and writing about them for years?

For goodness sake, this is YOUR child... YOU are responsible for learning as much as you can about your pregnancy and taking care of your new baby once it goes home with you. Why doesn't it even occur to you to spend $25.00 on a book, so you'll have a good reference point for these questions?

I really don't mean to be offensive... If I can get one person to take some initiative and make themselves a better-informed parent, then I'll be happy... It just surprises me that people don't take the job of parenting more seriously.

My son is 4 months old and has just started having screaming fits. When he has one he kicks his legs and screams like hes in pain. He eats well. I took him the ER this morning and they did a test to check his bowels, but that came back fine. He said it was possible he had colic, but I thought colic ended at 3 months. Could this be colic or gas? or something else?
