In my state WIC allows for a family of three to make $15.28/hr. and $611/wk.-my husband makes $15.50/hr. and $620/wk. Do they allow any wiggle room? We really need it! Does anyone else make a little more than allowed and still recieves WIC? Thanks for all the help!

Not sure what state you live in...

In my state, the allowance (financial ceiling) is higher when applying for insurance (medicaid) for the children. By having this kind of insurance, I am automatically eligible for WIC. We would not qualify for WIC otherwise. I would see if you can get in this way. And, it doesn't hurt to ask the WIC office about your situation!

Definately no wiggle room. My husband and I both work, and we live in Alaska (in the military). Everything is much more expensive in AK, (the best example I can give you is it costs almost $6.00 for a gallon of milk) however, we make exactly $40 too much a month. They told me I could quit the military and we'd be ok... the lady also told me I could lie. She's not condoning lying, but the WIC office gets so much money a year and if they don't spend it all then they're money gets cut the next year. However, in my case its not a great suggestion to lie, especially when I work for the government.

In my state that makes you rich! LOL...the guidelines are in place because you don't need it if you make to much HOWEVER....if there is a reason like premature birthday or at risk baby in some way (mom or baby with low iron or something like that) you need to be there....it's not just about financial- you should tell them you feel that you would like to consult with the nutricianalist and etc. They benefit your baby and you by alot more than the food! It's a good way to check iron levens, weight measurements and ask those questions you don't want ot ask anybody else. We were at income level plus $7 average a week...we still got it. It was partly due to the fact that we applied for Medicaid to assist with Dr. bills....even if we were not eligible there are other programs that will be available to assist instead of paying for...just by you applying for it you are eligible to get WIC...
Good luck!

i wish my state allowed that much.
not normally some state allow day care to be deducted so if you could have a friend sign a receipt saying she babysits for 60 a week or ask a friend that doesn't work or receive aid if u can list them at ur residents and that way ur a family of 4 not 3. my husband and i are having the same problem.

good luck

There is no wiggle room. My ex and I made like $300 a year over the amount allowed for WIC and we were turned down.

Yes, they ask for proof of income. There are no exceptions. You are in the f***ed income bracket. You make too much to qualify for public assistance, yet you barely make enough to pay the bills. I know how you feel. Good thing your going to school.

The 15.28 is prolly the average... you should make more depending on your job... if it is not the average, you should talk to your boss, and ask him about it, hey maybe you can get a raise!!

You'd have to ask them...
I suspect there's not any wiggle room...
but you can ask them if they know of any other plan that you could get assistance from if they cannot help you.
